McManaman sort of got away with it mainly cos we weren't very good and nobody really begrudged him leaving in the end, especially the way it worked out for him. Fowler is loved, but nowhere near or like the same way he would have been if he'd have been as good as he could have been. Gerrard would have absolutely despised and vilified if he'd have gone to Chelsea. I still don't like him partly because he even thought about it.

If my kid was in his mid 20s and had an offer to go and work for a company that meant when he came home that strangers would forever interact him in a different and objectively worse way I'd absolutely tell him he was making a big mistake. He's got every day of his life after he's 35 to go and see and experience the world. If he ****s off to Madrid now he can't ever really come home. The same isn't true for all of the people that are advising him that it's a great idea. Bellingham for instance, it's absolutely not the same for him. He can go home to Birmingham and to Birmingham City whenever he likes, they retired his shirt number ffs. Liverpool will be retiring 66 for entirely different reasons. Just imagine when and if he comes back to Anfield playing for Real Madrid. If he was your kid, why would you want to put him through that? I think he'll get way more **** than Owen ever got and even that little robot has got a massive chip on his shoulder about that.

A really bad decision from him as far as I'm concerned. He's not going to make that much more money, he's not going to enjoy his football (if at all) that much more. But when he's finished he won't be able to come back to the city he's from or to the club he grew up in without everyone giving him side eye and knowing that everyone is disappointed in him. He won't even get proper respect from Evertonians. It's basically an act of self harm. I pity him.

Not that I agree with the release clause thing and think it’s good that we don’t countenance them, but I’m not sure Trent gets anything less either way. Madrid will just be interested ibis wage fitting in with their structure and the overall fee being acceptable. there’s no way Madrid are going to give Trent 100% of what they’d be willing to pay as both a signing and a transfer fee. I’m not even sure they could account/amortise it in the same way.

Yeah, I found her really irritating. Her turn of phrase repeatedly betrayed her anti-LFC bias I felt. There was one in particular where she was saying "look" how Salah lent into the defender to win a foul when the ****er had arms all over him. It's not very often I say "oh **** off" to commentators. Especially as I know they can't hear me.

Yeah, that's what I've said to anyone who's said how sorry they feel for him and how he shouldn't lose his career. There's plenty of people who lose their careers for less everyday and no-one cares. David Coote is certainly not top of the list for forgiveness. Especially given how sh!t he was reffing us. That was my first thought when I watched the video back in October. TBH, they've won a lot at home, only not beating Forest, Arsenal, Man City and errr... West Ham... But they've beaten a load of s***e.
