Spurs vs Liverpool - Premier League, 30th September @ 5.30pm

Yeah, I think the root of this is that the VARs, despite the rhetoric of not PGMOL not wanting them to re-ref the game, are prone to trying to persuade the onfield ref that their own opinion is more correct. looked like a clear case of, “look at this!”. Ignore the rest of that and what you thought before, “look at this!”. there needs to be far more structure as to how VARs talk and present to refs. This is one of the reasons why there’s no reason at all that refs make good VARs. -

Bit crap that was given really. Only reason Calvert Lewin was onside (just) was because onana had pulled the defender over by his shirt. -

Yeah, my money is on Diaz, Nunez, Salah. Though we may see gapko instead of Diaz. That will depend on who is playing the left 8. And that might depend on if Trent starts. -

Paqueta was the best player on the pitch today, by some difference. Which says a lot given salah, solozobai, and Bowen all had good games. He was going to city this summer but they backed out cos of the gambling habit. -
TBH, regardless of the spend, I’m reasonably happy with the window. Vastly improved in midfield. The churn there is enough to see how the defence fares behind it, at least until December. We will be signing a new 1st team defender in the next 12 months anyway because of Matip.
-
They might do a gentleman’s agreement to that effect. Can’t see them announcing that though. We’d want to sign his replacement before announcing his sale. similarly, if we’re gonna sign more defenders, then we’d want them in the bag before everyone knows we’ve got £200m. Otherwise, what’s the point in selling him?

What is clear from the video, and the others from that refs mic’d up show is that the VARs are very quick to say things like “that’s a foul, he’s come right through him” before they’ve even reviewed different angles. im still not entirely convinced van dyke does come through Isak. It’s hard to tell definitively that the movement of Isaks foot as van dyke challenges him isn’t caused by isak letting himself fall as he feels contact with van dyke’s hip. var completely ignore that possibility and don’t even look at it or discuss it and by the time they’re reviewing the angles that might show that they’re already onto is it offside or not. Minds made up.

Great stuff -
Either that or it would galvanise and spur a few of them to step up.

I’ve found Europa league games relatively easy to get tickets for over the years. hasn’t passing tickets on become more difficult recently though? I’ve not been except on a mate”s season ticket for donkeys.

Billy the kid (20) went to L2 Dunkerque on loan for the season yesterday. I’ve been on nights out in L2 that felt a bit like Dunkirk.

There was a little about this on Ref Watch. Seemed to me like Warnock and Gallagher had already discussed it off camera though. Essentially about the clear and obvious error part of VAR. Warnock arguing that this has to be changed so VAR judges if the ref has made a correct/incorrect decision rather than judging if, from the refs POV he’s made a clear error. There is a slither of difference between the two and that is what Tierney will be hiding behind the ****. Gallagher also went onto say when asked if Liverpool should appeal, that we would be have to convince the panel that it was a clear and obvious error. Which again is balls. I can understand VAR not being the ultimate arbiter of close decisions, but the panel clearly needs to be looking at, especially in the case of red cards, if the correct decision was made. surely, they can’t look at that and say, yeah, that’s a red and he should be banned for another 3 games. https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/12944532/ref-watch-was-alexis-mac-allister-unlucky-to-see-red-for-liverpool
