  1. This doesn't hold water purely because of the stupid, "You can count on me to make the switch" advert. Utterly disrespectful to the fans, the club and not least his team mates. I won't hate him or call him anything, but he'll be persona non gratis. And : 1. I honestly think we'll be a better team if the manager gets who he wants for RB. 2. Real fans will turn on him something terrible if he even once doesn't give it 100% or f***s up defensively. I don't think he's going to be as a big a hit over there as he thinks and the Ballon D'or thinking is ridiculous.
  2. The manager has said he doesn't always try his best. Our best form in Jurgens last season was the months he was injured and it was trying to fit him into how we were playing that saw the season fall off a cliff. If Real have a few bad results their fans will slaughter him for his defensive frailties. I'd hate to see that happen (honest). Onwards and upwards. Looking forward to the manager getting the players he wants in.
  3. Newcastle played similar to the way Forest did when they beat us. Hoofball with a few brutes throwing their weight around. We should have been prepared for that but we weren't. That's on the boss. I'm not gutted. We got what we deserved. Feel sorry for the lads who travelled there for it. Team needs more than a couple of players. It's time for a rebuild. Plenty to be positive about through that process. Just hope Slot gets the players he wants.
  4. I don't know anything about Slots tactics and players before us. Mad to think he hasn't brought a single player into this side. Is he likely to change anything ? Obviously our left backs don't seem well suited to how he has us playing. Any likely players that we could 'slot' in there ?
  5. Shmoke and a pancake, clearly.
  6. That's probably the best side I've ever seen us play. And we beat them at their gaff. We were magnificent. Gravenberch is a great footballer but sometimes you need a conventional no 6. Well in Endo.

  10. We've got a number of players who could do just enough in Klopps team but aren't up to Slots. We constantly move the ball so much quicker, looking for thread the needle passes. Quansah isn't mentally fast enough neither is Endo. Jones has enormous potential but he can be brilliant one match and not so good the next. We need signings, but we still have more than enough to win the league. I'd f*** the cups off though, we're spread too thin.

  12. This is true to a degree. But the major sites algorithms are weighted to reactive, negative and self destructive content. Whatever gets the most engagement. And whoever pays the most wedge, obv.
  13. I was disappointed to see him on the starting sheet (Chelsea game). He stuffed that down my throat and then some. Best player on the pitch.
  14. He hasn't got a choice. The run of games coming up is ridiculous. I blame bulls*** internationals which I despise.
  15. I've wondered for a while if FSGs hesitancy on new contracts had anything to do with the Diarra case (Bosman 2.0). The court today found against FIFA ! Could mean big changes to come on contracts etc https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/oct/04/fifas-transfer-rules-go-against-european-union-law-rules-eus-highest-court-lassana-diarra Fifa’s transfer rules go against European Union law, rules EU’s highest court Based on case linked to former midfielder Lassana Diarra Diarra challenged rules regarding players’ free movement Paul MacInnes Fri 4 Oct 2024 10.57 CEST Share The court of justice of the European Union (CJEU) has said that key Fifa rules governing the transfer system are “contrary to EU law”, which could have potentially explosive consequences for the future of club football. The resolution of Fifa v the player “BZ” – AKA the former Chelsea, Arsenal and Portsmouth midfielder Lassana Diarra – will cause great uncertainty across the game. It contains two key judgments after the court found that rules relating to the authorisation of transfers for players restrict freedom of movement, a key tenet of EU law, and that current rules requiring buying clubs to cover the cost of compensation for a player who breaks a contract “without just cause” are anticompetitive. Landmark transfer case verdict: court says Fifa rules breach EU law: football news – live Read more In a statement released by the CJEU, headed “Some Fifa rules on international transfers of professional footballers are contrary to EU law”, the court laid out the top-line judgments which will now be subject to further scrutiny by the Belgian courts, where the case originally began. “First, the rules in question are such as to impede the free movement of professional footballers wishing to develop their activity by going to work for a new club, established in the territory of another Member State of the European Union,” the statement said. “Those rules impose considerable legal risks, unforeseeable and potentially very high financial risks as well as major sporting risks on those players and clubs wishing to employ them which, taken together, are such as to impede international transfers of those players.” Second, the court said, “as regards competition law, the court holds that the rules at issue have as their object the restriction, and even prevention, of cross-border competition which could be pursued by all clubs established in the European Union, by unilaterally recruiting players under contract with another club or players about whom it is alleged that the employment contract was terminated without just cause.” These rules, the court said, “do not appear to be indispensable or necessary”.

  17. It's down to the manager. Formation, substitutions, tactics all poor. Also Forest were very physical without being too dirty, something the manager will have to adapt his tactics to. Anywhere else in Europe we'd get a lot more free kicks and as it was three of their players were vergining on a second yellow. Lets see how the season goes but there's significant question marks over FSG. Their goal was a series of blunders by us - Trent gives it away with a really poor ball, Gakpo chooses to go outside their winger, no idea what Konate was doing and am I wrong or does Alisson leave the ball thinking it's going out ? I dunno, maybe it's just too far away from him.
  18. Nunez is far from the only reason we blew it last term. 3-1 up at VIlla with 5 minutes to go and drawing 3-3. Losing 2-0 at Goodison. 2-2 at West Ham. Wrong end of a 0-1 at home to Palace. It really went to pieces when Trent returned from injury and we persisted in trying to play him in midfield and defence, going periods with no-one covering right back except Mo. It was management decisions that cost us and that's fine. Jurgen was exhausted and he'd more than earned the right to our support no matter how bad it might have got.
  19. I'm at the age now of thinking he's actually a decent player and then realising I'm thinking of his 53 year old dad.....
  20. Am I reading this right - Virge has said the club haven't tabled an extension ? https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-transfer-avenues-closing-joe-29787306?fbclid=IwY2xjawE1vwlleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHThvrErNA1QaoFGeDfjyj8MJUsMInmW05IiixXtAyBZmGgxiYE6d80dUiQ_aem_WxfXitiS8Si6VuQ2SlXZeg
  21. Think I've sussed what's happening. Of the four highest paid players at the club three of them their contract is expiring. The other is Alisson and we're trying to buy his replacement. They're doing a soft reset of the salary cap.
  22. Any news on contract renewals ? Is Tricky Dicky in charge of them an all ?
  23. I'd love to see his video analysis of Hughes who I am dangerously close to labelling the clubs latest spoofer.
