He's used the press on plenty of occasions to get his message across, and has been known to brief them "off the record" before, according to people who post on here. Rafa's too shrewd an operator to not play the game. Basically, I don't see any reason for Bascombe to make something like this up - or even sensationalise to this extent - without the story coming from somewhere. We'll see, I suppose.

He knows he does - he wants the owners to know as well. Lets see which song gets sung the most on Wednesday. Also - I doubt Rafa has too many moral concerns about speaking to a crap tabloid. Of course this is all speculation - but I am assuming Bascombe doesn't have contacts at the owners end, and does on the footballing side of the club.

I think if Bascombe has written this, irrespective of the paper its in, then there is some basis for concern. I am inclined to believe the story has come from Rafa's end, rather than the owners, and is an attempt to play politics - getting the fans motivated behind him.

Would riterate what a lot of people are saying. Great till the illness then slowly got worse afterwards. I'd also add one failing, and an odd one given his history, was that he left us with poor reserve and "youth" (youth as in 16 - 21 year olds) players - didn't really seem to be looking to the future in as focused a way as Rafa is.

I think Leto looks more than decent - certainly at that level anyway - not good enough to play regularly for the 1st team. Jesus though, that was a truly awful football match.

Disagree about Kuyt (I would, wouldn't i?) - particularly when Torres is playing. The only time we look really odd up front is when its Kuyt & Voronin. I think any combination of strikers apart from those two is fine.
