If, after having played for the club for a few years, they are not playing for the club but for the manager, then its right they should go. We'll get a lot of money for them and hopefully replace them with equally good players that the new manager wants. However, you always see these reports when a manager leaves but how often does it happen? It was reported when Rafa left Valencia that we'd have Barajja, Aimar, Ayala etc but the only player he went back for was Momo 12 months later.

Tomkins doesn't have the same circulation as the NOTW but on average one of his paragraphs has the same number of words as an entire edition. And that includes the telly supplement.

It was more of a general comment on the people who threaten to return their tickets at the drop of hat - usually as an empty gesture with no intention of doing so. The reality is - even if Rafa gets sacked - I'll probably be no nearer the top of the list than I am today.

One of the articles I read this morning - and there were many of them - mentioned that Hicks was briefing the press that Rafa was getting the sack. I can't be arsed going back through them, but one of them did.

There were a few posted on this thread in the early hours - forget which one(s) mentioned Hicks. There was the Times, Guardian and Indy I think.

Could be - but there are easier ways of making up lies than attributing them directly to the owner.

Parry and Moores rejected Mourinho after Houllier left - apparently on the basis of his antics in the Porto game at Old Trafford. Why would he therefore counsel the new owners to sack Rafa to get Mourinho? Strange post with little logic. Don't buy it at all.

f*** knows. Could be him beating his chest, Could be related to this apparent rift with Gillette. Of course they do - but there are other things which suggest there is more to it than that, The echo articles for a start.

Suppose a lot depends on whether you think he has contacts - I am inclined to believe he has. Speculation as in he made it all up and got incredibly lucky? Seems unlikely. I don't know if Hicks has been on the phone to Bascombe - but the other articles suggest Hicks is briefing the press that Rafa is getting sacked - which is a coincidence.
