Carrick is an above average PL player who passes very well but lacks pace and presence to boss a midfield. With a Gattuso next to him he would be a good buy but..... If RvN does go, they lose their obvious goal poacher, whatver spin is put upon it, Ronaldo has checked out, Scholes/Giggs are about 100 years old, and he recently wasted money on players like Evra - will he Evra start a game? So what will he do? Buy a ceremonial, big name striker, move Smith back to midfield after moving him to forward then drop him, then start the season off with O'Shea/Ferdinand in midfield! To me, I look at their squad and would take only and in order - Heinze and Rooney. For the first time in a long time, they need more of our players than vice versa.
