When is he ever going be ready if he isn't given a chance to prove himself in the pl? At least keep him on the bench and give him a 20-30 min run out, who knows, he might actually offer the team something different like beat a man and commit defenders? I doubt he'll gain a lot of experience playing in the spl against sides that are no better than 2nd or 3rd division sides here in England. If Hammill is as talented as people say he is then Rafa should do the same with him as Ferguson did with Ronaldo and what Wenger is doing with Walcott.
Doubt Gonzalez would've made a difference today. Luis was needed, he would've done something different then constantly hoofing the ball to Crouch and Kuyt.
hmm... not away from home. Bellamy's pace is key for us counter attacking Barca. And its Europe, Crouch is never given anything by the referees there so I doubt he'll be much trouble for Marquez or Puyol!
The best strikers at the moment (or inform strikers) are David Villa, Drogba, Totti, and van Nistelrooy. The best strikers or the most consistent over the last 5 or 6 years are Henry, Shevchenko, Nistelrooy and Trezeguet.
Personally I think it all comes down to the quality of players we have at the club. It should be better. Rafa's emphasis on the team is his weakness because you also need the kind of players that don't work as hard but win you games with their brilliance. Also, in his first season Rafa should have eradicated the hoofs from defense and put even stronger emphasis on moving the ball forward quickly on the ground and get more movement from the players off the ball. The team is also too predictable.
Best game of the season so far for me. Stevie and Alonso truly showed their class today when they outfought and outplayed Nolan, Speed AND Campo! Although Crouch scored a beauty today I'd still prefer him to tap in those 5 yard headers and score 3!
