  1. Hodgson wasn't sacked purely based on results but fan power and his own words were the spade that dug his grave. Rodgers has had a far from perfect start but at least when I hear him talk am I somewhat encouraged and understand what he is trying to do. There is no quick fix..... the club has been mis-managed for years and unless huge sums of money are invested in the club it will be slow progress to move back up the table. I find it utterly laughable that many Liverpool fans expect quick fixes and instant results after changing managers. Very little patience in the game these days it seems.
  2. Kennys biggest problem was his under use of his very expensive signings. He spent £70m on 3 players and midway through the season none were getting a game. Only Carroll started to peak towards the end of last season. I could see where Kenny was going with his transfers but I didn't agree with them. IMO the Carroll signing killed him..... without that I think we would have continued with the fast fluid attacking play we saw when he first took over, but with alternatives from Kuyt, Raul, Bellamy & Maxi
  3. last season wasn't very good either from a league perspective maybe we need to stop sacking managers every 12-18 months and give someone a bit of time to turn things around
  4. gonna take a lot of time & patience if we are to progress.
  5. this. Ronaldo's goalscoring record is off the chart amazing yet Messi's is on another level again. Best player ever to play the game. Best, Maradona maybe be as equally talented but Messi's application and professionalism has catapulted him above everyone else
  6. Walcott. Obviously depending on his contract talks with Arsenal but he is a very good finisher and has one thing we massively lack throughout the team & that's pace. He's at the very least a realistic target. Could do worse than sign either Jackson Martinez or James Rodriguez from Porto as well.
  7. Problem is he's nowhere near the Gerrard of old. Early days of course but he's been a shadow of the player he once was. Hopefully he just needs games but I can't help thinking there's another injury just around the corner with him. Even if he does remain injury free I think he suits the deeper role as he seems to have lost a bit of that dynamism he had. He was excellent for England in a the deeper role at the Euros imo. Suarez will be our only source of goals this season. I just hope he gets his shooting boots on as we will massively rely upon him. If he gets injured we are truly f***ed

  9. where did I slag off Rafa? & back Hodgson?? eh I merely stated that rafa's reign had run its course.... he was utterly amazing in europe but domestically fell short somewhat. As for Roy. He wasn;'t a good appointment but hardly anyone even gave him a chance. From minute one there was a huge majority on his back. That majority were right but imo the hounding out of Hodgson was done in a distasteful manner. IMO. It was all very Newcastle like
  10. I myself do get worried about s*** like that. The job of Liverpool manager is f***ing huge but its nowhere near big enough to risk your health for. don't you f***ing dare you prick. we can compare miles and money spent following liverpool and you'll be miles behind fella. For several years , Liverpool FC was everything to me, i went everywhere, well before the modern brigade started to give a s***. So don't f***ing lecture me you tosser
  11. hah your the c*** around here probably one of those who never even gave hodgson a chance either & booed Lucas and henderson. why for doubting Rafa's ability. Give over you precious queen. Obviously you don't care enough if you notice a decline in the health & mental state of your manager Maybe you want another Jock Stein eh
  12. or just I'm not afraid to say it how it is and not tow the pathetic party line. Lot on invertebrates on here and unable to think for themselves. imo anyone who wasn't concerned with rafa's health in the last season is very selfish Nobody likes to see a deterioration in person like that. Like Ged previous I was worried about his health
  13. hah i'm fine where I am. I was in the Ukraine & Latvia following Liverpool before it got glamorous to go to European away games. You were probably still cheering from your sofa. The weight gain is an important matter imo. Healthy body, healthy mind. It was exactly the same with Houllier. They were both at their best when they looked 'fresh' full of life & vitality. Both in the last couple of seasons of their reign we're over weight & physically looked drained. Its not a coincidence. Rafa will always be a legend to me for the great games & times he provided but by the end it was obvious his time had runs its course. The inter job came too soon for him imo. He desperately needed a break. He's had that now & looks really good for it & ready for a new challenge. I wish him every success possible (he gave me my greatest ever night) but Rafa & LFC had run its course.
  14. stood up in what way? Siding with Hicks to get further control of team matters? Constant snipping with the owners creating instability. Driving out out best midfield player Xabi Alonso. By the end of his reign there was hardly a player in that squad who had anything positive to say about him. His massive weight gain is also a sure sign of a man without control. Thankfully he looks a million times more healthy nowadays and some team will get a good manager when they appoint him. It will not be Liverpool though
  15. couldn't match it again though could he. Consistency. That's what wins league titles
  16. 2 games in a 'golden' period of football. I have the utmost respect fro Rafa but i simply do not get at all the idolisation of him from a section of fans. Its as if Istanbul has clouded their judgement to anything negative he did. Domestically that first season was awful, with some horrendous performances. Even in our best season domestically under rafa the first half was pretty insipid. Not taking anything away from Rafa there as from Feb onward we were f***ing brilliant, inspired imo by Yossi Benayoun. Personally I'd rather a manger who can deliver consistently throughout the season & not have golden patches mixed in with s**** ones
  17. no way would I take Rafa back. I still clearly remember the turgid football we played under him. In Europe he was a master, In the PL he was often far too cautious and had a lot of fans pulling their hair out. Funny how in 2 years he suddenly becomes a much better manager. Its time we've moved on as a club and stopped looking in the past.
  18. Henderson is awful. Bellamy apart I wouldn't mind seeing the rest of last summers transfers being sold on. Worst transfer summer in our history.
  19. Even ignoring that c*** Mourinho & the t*** Ronaldo. I prefer Barca because they are a club who on the whole try and develop their talent. Staring line ups tonight. RM had 1 home grown player against 8 of Barca. RM are the most expensive squad ever assembled in the history of football. They should be favourites to in everything. Its a credit to Barcelona, their system & trust in their youngsters that its considered such an achievement to win the league ahead of them.
  20. Not sure what his job actually is.... A 10 year old could have done a better job with the money spent in the last 18 months. Isn't he supposed to unearth talent for little money. Therefore he is a glorified scout & not a very good one at that.
  21. Some of Kenny's decisions & tactics have been highly questionable this season. However he absolutely needs another season to improve our league form. There have been some horror shows as with our previous 3 managers (Sunderland & Wigan both games spring to mind) but our general overall play has been decent. Lets not over exaggerate and say great, in patches it has but we are where we are primarily due to not taking our chances and/or scoring goals when we are on top. Our goal tally this season says everything. Just buying a goalscorer won't solve our problems either. It will certainly help matters but we aren't playing the same quality of football that we did under Kenny last season. Obviously the pressure was off then as there was very little to play for but one massive noticeable different (and its really where the mancs excel) is our old problem of not committing enough men in the box. I don't have a clue why Maxi hasn't been invloved more but him & Raul Meireles added an extra dimension to our play with their well timed runs into the box. Last seasons fluid front 4 of Suarez, Kuyt, Maxi & Meireles seems like a distant memory. I don't know why Kenny has become a bit more conservative, nor why he has left Maxi out so often & sold Meireles. Granted the latter never pulled up any trees here but he defiantly has a good understanding with our other attacking players.
  22. We won't be getting anywhere near that though. Bar Carroll, who Kenny doesn't pick anyway I'd keep all the other recent recruits. I don't see wholesale changes. Aquilani, Maxi & maybe a couple of others going and probably just a couple of players brought in. Most likely to be an attacking right sided player and a goalscorer. Unless another player chooses to leave I don't see much more happening in the summer.
  23. £100m spent in 12 months and points wise we are still nearer the bottom than the top. A lot of hard work ahead this summer for Kenny, Comolli & the coaching staff. The longer we go without CL football the further we will fall behind into mid-table mediocrity.
