  1. Seemed to suggest that Aqualani couldn't settle in Liverpool/Premier League...
  2. Jesus that was one hell of a performance, as Ben Smith tweeted, one of the best Anfield debuts in years...
  3. Is there any info out there on what exactly a redev of Anfield will involve, any leaked plans or the like?
  4. Henderson and Carroll are both relative nippers in terms of their development, given that both of their styles are given to steady improvement as they age, I strongly believe we could have two gems on our books. As in, they are not speedy tricksters or the like, who normally wash up in the mid 20s, see Lennon and countless others. I reckon Rodgers will earmark both and build a side around them. I think the biggest issue for Rodgers is finding a (the right) place for Gerrard in his team/system
  5. Lawro, what a tw*t TOP TEN!!!! BBC pundit and ex-Liverpool player Mark Lawrenson on BBC Radio 5 live and the BBC News channel: "It's a great appointment for Rodgers and the biggest gamble the football club have taken in a long time. Quite often they have appointed from within. "Rodgers has done a great job at Swansea, everyone loves the way they play their football. The chance for Brendan to manage a club which is in the top 10 in country was too much to resist. It's a different challenge for him, the club will be expected to win every game. "Liverpool spent an awful lot of money last season, there's no doubt they over spent. It's a big job for Rodgers because he'll be responsible for everything as there's no director of football. "Liverpool supporters will give him a chance. They will give him time. But if they don't look like finishing anywhere near top four, what do the owners do?
  6. Don't really know about the Rodgers/Clarke dynamic but surely Rodgers was his underling at Chelsea, roles reversed now! Maybe Clarke was the guy who planted the idea about Rodgers in Boston and that does weigh up
  7. Talksport raving about Henderson now, we've got to him time. If we listened to every gobs**** on here about Lucas 3 years ago, we'd be shot of him. Henderson is only 21, could turn into a diamond...
  8. Statement from Swansea on SSN saying that Rodgers would like to be the next Liverpool manager but he hasn't been offered the job yet. Strange...
  9. Phil McNulty‏@philmcnulty Interesting to see Daily Telegraph's well-connected Chris Bascombe saying chances of Van Gaal joining Liverpool have receded significantly.

    Kenny

Why does everyone presume they are getting solid advise from someone within the game. These guys run a monster of a sporting organisation in the states. They obviously feel the principles they have applied to the Red Sox can be applied to Liverpool and who is to say they can't. We cannot compete financially at the moment due to stadium issue so we need something progressive and possibly even radical to get us back there.

There is no logical reason why 'pure chance' will 'turn around', you can be contnually 'unlucky' if you like. It is very hard in sporting terms to put this up as an excuse as the thinking is is that you make your own luck.

Abysmal season in terms of league results. But we have to be pragmatic in terms of peformances. The fact is that a huge number of the peformances have deserved more points, most here would agree on this. The league table doesn't lie is a line that is bandied about quite a bit, if a team loses a game it didn't deserve to lose then the league table lies, the thinking that this will even out over the course of a season is nonsense. Ask any seasoned gambler/trader about trends in that regard. The fact remains that each of us could rattle off at least 5 or 6 games that could have turned into wins. That is a points swing that would have qualified us for the champions league and with a cup final and a cup in the bag, it would have been a highly sucessful season. FSG have a key decision to make in terms of risk, they will assess this in a mechanical way and I expect the outcome will be to retain and fully back Kenny in this window and into next season.
  13. We need a goal scorer, we don't have one. It's the greatest skill in the game, you can have your fancy flicks and going around players for fun but we need someone who has that knack of being in the right place and consistently scoring.
  14. How many off the post now this season? Kenny needs to lift em to keep them going...
  15. Downing and Suarez need to be on song today, two key players today
  16. Any word on Arsenal line up, does Van Persie make it?

    Gerrard

Stuart pearce is a moron, serious snub
  18. To be fair to Jamie, he said that Rio didn't do united any favours after GN said Suarez hasn't done his club any favours. I think it's time the club exposed the truth around this, we can't move on from it until we know the full truth. Nothing to be lost at this stage
  19. Reina Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique Spearing Gerrard Kuyt Henderson Bellamy Carroll Suarez, Adam, Downing in reserve to change things if/when needed

Could have been worse, still in with a chance of 4th with our top players back now. Chelsea and Arsenal are poor and there for the taking. Keep the faith...
  21. 4th is now in our own hands, It's ON
  22. Savage
  23. Nice, so I'm not alone (I didn't to answer you directly). Would not be sharing this assertion outside of this medium to be honest - not just yet anyway.
  24. I think there is a likeness, I'm not for a second saying we've got a Zidane on our hands (right now) but I think his stature, positioning and style of play have a likeness to Zidane, even the way he passes the ball, has a tendancy to flick it with the outside of his right which is similar to you know who. But I agree, tell me to shut up and let the lad develop.
  25. Anyone else think Shelvey has a likeness to Zidane the way he floats around the place
