The thing about him is that unlike a lot of young players, given the way he plays and where he plays, he will only get getter - he can be anything including the best.

I think City at home is exactly the type of game you need after a tough away. The crowd/hype and adrenaline that comes with a big game can make up for any losses due to the quick turnaround. I hate this Thursday/Sunday mindset that is allowed to set in. Players are monitored and should be 100% with a bit of rotation, it's the mind that can let them down

Southampton v Liverpool League 4.15pm k.o. Sun 22 Feb

Gaining 3 points on 3 of your 4 rivals over the course of one weekend is a massive incentive - JFW -
If we won the Uefa and finished 5th would the 4th placed team be denied qualification? You could see lots of plusses in such a scenario were it to happen. I still think we'll end up 3rd...
-
To get 4th we are going to have to go and beat Southampton and Arsenal away to claw them back in given avg results. It all hinges on Sturridge, with him in the side we are at least the 3rd best side in that league, arguably 2nd

4 wins in 5 now, form team

Liverpool v Leicester City Thursday 1st January 3pm

I think Chelsea showed how important rotation is over the xmas/ny period. I expect a few changes and rightly so. Prob on the wings and I would think gerrard for lucas makes sense too. SM KT EC MS JM SG JH LM PC RS AL DW AM DL LL MB FB RL -

This could be a hot topic after a couple of weeks. I am right in saying this years winners go in to the Champions League - there could be light yet!
-
In old Berlin, we won it 6 times! Believe!
-
Yes we did, Balotelli hit the bar following a slight deflection off their keeper
-
Aside from a worldy we would all be saying we're back on track. There were great signs today - back four good, midfield bossed them. Get sturridge in up top and we're a proper side again. However, markovic needs to play with the u-21s and the capital one cup games to get used to english football.

Moreno did very well on Lukaku, they tried to target him and he handled him very well. Special mention for Lallana - fabulous effort. In the context of the season and kicking on from here, the performance bodes well - Coutinho starts, he makes us tick and we have to allow him to play himself back in to form
-
We're all a bit blinkered and might I say, understandably so, by our Captain. It all stems from him not holding the middle when we don't have the ball. And not aggressively covering in straight lines across the middle like Lucas did pre-injury or Fernandinho and Matic do now. If you want to play like we do you have to have this type of player. He knows what to do when we are in possession but it's when we are not then that's the issue. Nobody really highlighted the Ludrogets goal but that was all due to Stevie leaving his position and pushing up and leaving a gaping hole for the pass to go through.

Playing 12 would definitely help matters right now
-
Problem with shifting to a back 3 is gerrard is still dropping in when we are trying to pass out from the back,he needs to step out and provide an option for lovren. West Ham will tire no doubt but I fear they could get a third. If not, we could win this
-
Definitely a game that needs to be won by the bench. Keep it tight and spring lallana for the winner

Liverpool v Aston Villa (Kick off 5.30pm)
fellafeen replied to Rory Fitzgerald 's topic in Liverpool FC
I've always looked forward to games but never as much as now, not sure whether it's age or this side. Lallana surely has to get a start in midfield with Henderson and Gerrard (if Allen is out). I'd like to see coutinho and sterling floating off balotelli then - no wonder I look forward to games! -

We really have a great looking squad now, a striker is required but i don't think we need the marquee signing we'd all like as It could upset the balance and a whole lot more in the squad. It begs the question as to who is vying with who for a start in the top games? I think it' depends on where Brendan decides to play Henderson as he, for me is the main man now. I think he is the only player we have that is completely 'un-droppable'. Where he plays determines who else will get a start in the top games. Ignoring the defence as the competition there is pretty clear but looking at midfield, if Henderson plays in the two then it is one from Gerrard/Can/Allen/Lucas for the other CM position. If Henderson plays in the three, then the four mentioned fight it out for the CM 2 positions. If Henderson plays in the three, which I feel he will do more in the top games this season it leaves us with Coutinho v Lallana and Sterling v Markovic. And I for one think the two youngsters are well above their direct competition right now. To get to my main point, I don't see Lallana as a starter in the high profile games this season and this counters the notion that aside from Lovren, he was the one signing made this summer that was a considered a sure starter a) given his age profile and b) his price.
-
There does seem to be a dearth of strikers out there who would fit the profile - young (ish), experienced (ish), pacey, good finisher, good link up, good attitude. You would want an 8 or 9 on all of those attributes before splurging and I cannot think of one player across Europe that hits the mark. Jovetic aside, who knows?

Will the final be against united? Anybody any idea how this group thing works?
-
Been away, can anyone indulge me 1) Is Pepe gonna stay by any chance? 2) I presume the belief is that Moreno will get done but what alternatives/back ups are being suggested? 3) Looks like Lovren will get done, is that some out then? Surely we cannot carry Skrtel, Agger, Sahko, Lovren, Toure, Llori and Coates? 4) Seems likely that we may stick at Lovren and Moreno given the lack of realistic options available out there and keep the option to go again in Jan (or dare i say maybe sort out the finances a bit on the stadium) 5) Would leave this plus a few young uns GK Mignolet, Pepe RB Flannagan, Johnson CH Lovren, Sahko, Skrtel, Agger, Llori LB Moreno, Enrique DM Gerrard, Henderson, Can, Allen, Lucas AM Sterling, Coutinho, Lallana, Markovic, Ibe, Suso FW Sturridge, Remy, Lambert
