Suarez' touch has always been a bit off/loose when he has time even when at the top of his game, he is prone to giving away a few easy loose passes, not sure why, probably loses focus when something isn't directly on
Watched them at united and they looked decent, were probably unlucky not to get something out of that game. They had a great chance at 0-0, the young guy Gayle has buckets of pace so will need to be watched
We will dominate possession and a sizeable chunk of this will be in the top half so we need wide players who are comfortable and can deliver a decent final ball. With this in mind, sterling should start right wing. Mignolet Toure Skrtel Sahko Sterling Henderson Gerrard Enrique Moses Sturridge Suarez
See how he tried to get everyone going at the start of the second half, his clapping just before kick off could be heard on tv, his influence could be key - bar Carra defenders have all been on the quiet side for a few years
Strange as f*ck team, can't see either of Toure or Sahko/Agger providing decent width - don't think we'll be troubled at corners or free kicks tho (mockers guaranteed now)
This has probably been hanging over the lad for a while now. Need him to kick on, he doesn't really have the hype I think he deserves, he can be anything he wants to be
Technically the word means initiate another cycle of play. It is a daft word and has probably been taken from rugby where the ball is recycled from a ruck in to a new passage of play. But Allen is decent receiving the ball under pressure and gettting it off to a team mate which in theory should leave the recipient of the pass in more space which equals good (I think...)
Receive the ball in a tight space (lots of players wearing different coloured jerseys in close proximity) and recycle it (pass it on to some player wearing same jersey as the recipient) - comprendez??
If Allen is fit he will start and I would see it as a must given Coutinhos absence. Our game against lower half teams at home is purely about posession and moving them about the pitch in attempt to either tire them out or force them out of position to create gaps to attack. Allen will help us in this regard similar to how Coutinho would as he is one of the few aside from Coutinho who can recycle the ball in tight spaces, the key to Allen becoming a better player for us is for him to have the confidence to take the less safe option and try and be a bit more cutting, easier said than done. The other option is to move Henderson in centrally and get him to run off their two DMs thus occupying them in a different manner. This would require putting Sterling out wide which could suit us too, he looked good for the u-21s the other night. I think Alberto could be a player for us in the next few years but dumping him in to a role like this at this stage would be too much. He got a hat trick the other night but he looked a bit lost for the first half or so of the game and needs to be eased in to proceedings.
He's been boss for Rodgers so far but he needs to be rested, this notion of playing him in every minute has somehow evolved - give him a break especially after a long haul with England, he looked knackered the other night.
I think Brendan sees Allen performing as a 10 in a game where control rather than counter attack is required so Allen is the perfect fit for this game and will start if fit
Flanagan is probably the most natural right back outside of Glen in the squad - Kelly and Wisdom are centre halfs in the making in my book. On a completely separate point, I heard it mentioned here last week but if we are looking for someone to come in and cover Lucas then Ilori could be the man, looks very assured and neat on the ball, good engine
Toure midfield - jeepers h. The guy is a lot of things but he is a limited footballer and even BR mentioned last week that he would not be too happy at RB not to mind central midfield - Allen has to come in if fit
If Kelly is ready I'd put him there but anyone but Toure at right back for me, similar to when Carra was put right back towards the end of his career - didn't work and especially at home against a lower half team
I think Sterling deserves a run more than Alberto, toure is not a right back and is probably more restricted than Wisdom in a home game (where you need attacking full backs), I think we need someone who is comfortable in the top half of the field in a home game against a lower half team - I'd go with this -----------------------Mignolet Henderson-----Skrtel-------Agger------Enrique ------------------Lucas--------Gerrard ----Sterling---------Allen-----------Moses ------------------Sturridge
Thankfully we're not in the europa, looked really leggy tonight. Stevie, Enrique and Hendo could barely break a stride. Please let Coutihno not be injured, makes all the difference. Still that is definitely a point gained given how it played out,
The lad will have learned a lot from that half but I'd bring on Kolo, need a bit of calm there, seems to be heart in mouth every time the ball goes in and he's breaking the line too much and jumping in needlessly
