The recent talks he is only on a loan deal and wanting to get away is worrying. Hope we can tie him down asap.

Looks like we have a new left winger....
mercury replied to Dominus Maximus 's topic in Liverpool FC
More than good. Fit and on form, he is world class, and his 70% is already better than most, if you look at 2005. It's time for him to repay Rafa's faith the coming season. -
Crap article and a deliberate overlook of Rafa's record in Europe and deliberate disrespect to Mori to make his point. If I am not wrong, Mori has never whinged of his time here. It's unfortunate that he cannot adapt to PL, and many haven't. Last year we did underachieve in the league, especially on the points. So in any case, I expect to see some decent improvement the coming season. And if, as Tim said, Rafa has already spent over 80m nett in his three seasons, and that we get winger or two as well, there should be an all out challenge on the title!

RIP YNWA

aye. his link play, possession and general decision making was top notch.

Kewell on treatment table true but mediocre football not. Even below his best his football is better than most - he got the brain and skills. A fit Kewell is world class and saves us loads of money. As you said let's hope he'll deliver as good as his word the coming season. We do need another winger though, now that we've got Torres, i.e. if we do

aye but the fact that he went to Newcastle just confirmed everything people think bad of him. Notwithstanding, 9m for Owen is not a bad piece of business at all. Still rate him, just not that a*** anymore. Quietly hopeful on Torres. Will be elated if we get him + Tevez - just think it is unlikely.

Our key Spaniards are toughies, and that includes little Luis. Soldiering on despite only barely walking in the derby - this show his physical courage; keep trying things even when they do not come off - this is mental toughness. Not really a regular starter but surely an impact player. We did miss him last season and I'll be very sad if we lose him.
-
oh dear, we really get under his skin nothing much wrong with what he said though, more like the press trying to whip something up. Only that these days I just couldn't take him seriously, especially after that jibe that we are a small club, made me laugh so hard

actually maddock has been spot on on a few things

Well this is sure to help bids for Tevez or Benayoun

Could Parry refuse to be called as it's an arbitration, not a court case? -

if we sign Tevez I'll be very very happy

Have not been able to read through the thread in detail, here's my two cent. There is now too much smoke to say there is no fire. The media are bad but very few do pure fabrication, not as a pack. So..... We have two expectations for the new owners. First and foremost, get on with the stadium. This seems going so well beyond our expectation, i.e. if we can get passed that bloody Council and its planning permission. However, is the new plan compromising our transfer budget? This leads to the second, we do not want the transfer budget to be compromised, if anything it is to be boosted this year. Not saying we need 100m or every year at 60m. But Rafa need to add that bit of quality to lift the team to another level. Probably a tidy sum of 60m, about half or two-third of that net spend, is what requires. one or two big signings is what G&H have led us on and I fully expect them to deliver at the end of the transfer window. As on whether they are the right owners. Action speaks louder than words, we may find out soon. There is no point harping on DIC though. These people have their own but different baggage to G&H prima facie. And they are in for money, the leaked memo confirmed it and to say they have less stress on return is just speculation. Also the pet sport of the Shiehk is horses, not football, he is the one calling the shots, not his employee who chairs DIC. Fact is, we'll never know they are right unless we see their package or go through with them, like we are now with G&H.

phew - have been half resigned to losing him! Great news! grinning from ear to ear now

Exactly. Yes, there are bad followers but they are a minority and we do not have much problems in the past four or five years going all over Europe. Shame on UEFA who resorts, again, to tarring the supporters to cover their own shortcomings and keep a blind eye over other problems. But what can we expect from these fat, corrupt cats? The Club must stand up.

I very much agree with you, and indeed defended Parry in another post. Parry has got Ged - no matter how people rate / hate him he is instrumental in turning the footballing side around to leave at least something for Rafa to work on - and Rafa and IF the new owners turn out to be the real deal these services to the Club alone outweight any incompetence real or imagined, large or small. However, at this point in time only one winner can emerge between him and Rafa. I also agree with Boca and Cam. Surely not everything good for Rafa is good for the Club, there must be a degree of balance there.
-
That is because it was Gerrard himself who had refused to sign and whose performance on the pitch and before the mic was unworthy of the shirt and even less the captain's armband throughout that season. But that is water under bridge. If Parry have to go, that he is found to be incompetent, then go. But I'm not so sure of wiping off everything he does . At the very least, he is the one who managed the search for Rafa, our footballing God of the minute, and of course the search for the new owners. However, let's see how the new owners manage this summer, whether they are strong - and wise - enough to deal with Rafa as well as taking the Club forward, whether their action are as good as their words. It seems to be a habit of us to get into a depression instead of basking in glory after CL finals.....
-
Agreed. If it comes down to a choice of Parry and Rafa, who to go is not in doubt. Two CL finals in three years with one in the bag is not to be sniffed at. We are a football Club afterall. Not to mention the new owners are always going to install their own management. Is it the best timing to sack Parry though? With the takeover just completed and our new owners no experience with football - a most perculiar and "unpoliced" undustry (because the "policemen" - FIFA, UEFA, FAs are as corrupt if not more so than everyone in the "industry"), argubly we need someone for continuity for a while. But we'd survive Rafa is a calculated ruthless man who is not afraid to use the media to get what he wants. Wonderful in the name of progress. Unfortunatley a little warmth to the man is lost on the way. Not that he cares. That's the way football and likely our Club is going.
-
so many good posts here. Yes it is very disappointing but the lads gave their all. We were the better team this round however failed to make our advantage count. So fair and sqaure Milan won. Karma? Perhaps. Let the players have a good rest and let's strengthen wisely this summer. March on 2006-08!

Gillet vows to back Rafa's pursuit of 'Snoogy Doogy'
mercury replied to Falconhoof 's topic in Liverpool FC
If Rafa has felt a lack of business savvy or ruthlessness in LFC's leadership of the old, here surely is an old fox of a man (men). At the very least in G & H a PR master of his equivalent proportion. Let's see how this summer plays.
