  1. Fingers crossed that at long last we move forward on this. Herzog has done some great jobs in recent years.
  2. "Fear relegation" is madness. It's not for football reasons that Rafa was sacked but I do agree that given the situation at the Club, Rafa had done what he could under the circumstances - and more than we could ever ask for - and the constant fight did take a toll on him. It probably was right for him to go, but disastrous for us cos we're never gonna replace him with the same quality.
  3. As if we should care about what Mr Burton and his lot's feelings. An old chinese saying to Mr Burton: you usually got treated what you deserve to be treated. pricks
  4. It'd have been interesting to have a partnership of Torres and Suarez. This is not be. So be it. And life goes on, beautifully here.
  5. Great great window. Especially that most of us are not so arsed yesterday as the main biz been done and dusted with with a few weeks to spare. The last minute outs, with the exception of Meireles, are what make this really special too. Yup. We always gonna have to pay for past mistakes such as Degen, Cole and Poulsen. The matter is how much we can salvage. The Club should be commended for taking the bulls by the horn and rectifying them. Our squad now is in a much much better shape.
  6. This. As said, Comolli earning his crust this window. I am even more impressed by his ability to shift players surplus to requirement, though no doubt we might be subsidizing some of those wages to get the bums moving.
  7. That is a testimony to his creative prowess, that he creates so many chances, rather than clinical finishing. Still a genius with that one weakness in his game.
  8. Always rated the lad
  9. Dross We let Sunderland off the hook last week. Glad we didn't today. Some work to do for KD & SC -- we played well but lack cutting edge. In any case, happy as punch
  10. But only for teams in the Champion League, I reckon?
  11. Yup. We got our Club back again. The run to the 5th - hopefully - says so much about this Club. We are vibrant and we have hope. Happy happy days.
  12. Excellent news. Hope this more or less confirm he is staying. Don't kid yourself that Reina has not seriously contemplated - or even on the verge of - leaving. And who could blame him given the year before January?
  13. Fumble football at its best
  14. Need this be asked? Really.
  15. You'd think he's a smallish player the way he plays - the close control, feints, turn of pace, agility etc - when in fact he's 5 ft 11. We have a real player in our hands! He'll make it a lot easier for Carroll. Can't wait :cooler:
  16. Very nice interview from Gerrard. He's definitely matured as a person. By what definition one is an outsider and insider? What positions are off limits and what positions are ok for "outsiders"? Is Steve Clarke an insider or outsider now? Promoting people from within have its obvious merits but only works when there're enough good people - by good, it means TOP, which is what Liverpool Football Club should aspire for and expect. Not looking outside limit the pool of talents the Club could access to and football is already a small enough circle. Better, we can just make those "outsiders" become us. And this Liverpool effect is not exactly an unknown
  17. I'll put Maradona ahead of Messi, honest. Heard that Sterling has a left peg also. Hope he'll continue to develop and we'll have a player.
  18. Yes, interesting.
  19. Actually the email had valid concerns and it really is still early days to draw any conclusions on the new owners. Now, asking Laudrup to be the assistant manager of Hodgson, if true, was as delusional as it could get.

    Kenny

One side plus of Kenny returning is that this bunch of ex players will be careful when they open their big gobs. They will not dare to be dismissive as they did with our two previous two European managers.
  21. Such a laughing stock, this Blackpool
  22. No lilies, our owners. Good for Comolli to put his head on the block as well on Carroll - let's see how good they are. Their track record suggests that FSG is not one to panic buy. If this is correct, the way they have handled Jan is impressive. Instead of doom and gloom which would have been inevitable from Torres' departure, we are now buzzing and arguing on 35m. It seems that we are linking to British players only? Europe and rest of the world may offer more value.
  23. The tragedy of the last summer was that, for every mistake already made, it was compounded, heavily, by those in charge. Aquilani was always a big gamble and I can understand why people are willing to let him go. Personally I won't yet as he did show class towards the end of last season and certainly will not with that deal and what we get in return. Madness.
  24. I'm not so sure he isn't a touch on Alonso and I love Xabi. Lucas has definitely grown stronger and "sturdier", not so easy to bump off, so that's a factor too. Congrat, Leo!
  25. Actually the problem is more about Gerrard's feeling of burden to go on solo captain fantastic act. Sometimes it's justified, sometimes not. Gerrard 's a fantastic player for us, that's without argument.
