Having the best striker-pairing in the league really have hidden some obvious glaring holes in our team, our set-up and our coaching staff. 2/3's of his buys not making the 11 out there....Who's to fault over our summer spendings? Who scouted Aspas, Alberto and Moses , and who found them better than Suso? And with Rodolfo andMC Pharland(?) gone, who's left to ask the "right" questions within the club? Tactics are not working in Gerrard or Lucas' favour. They are both too slow. Both can't do their job through reading the game. We need someone to run, hassle and press. Masch/ Alonso, I think, would've been a perfect set-up, and not least a good example on what we need. Alonso wasn't fast, but his reading of the game and the passes and set ups he made worked from all over the field. To stifle us you had to stifle Alonso at midfield, Gerrrard and Torres . Nowadays our opponents can focus "solely" on the strikers MAscherano bullied and harrassed opponents, and never gave up. The fall from "the best midfield in the world" to the most pedestrian in the league is sure hard to watch. I would, if given the choice, tried Hendo as 1 of the two, the other being Stevie, Lucas or Allen.

I really had high hopes for Aspas, and still have. Still Too early to drive him to the JLA just yet. I have him as a replacement/ alternative to Sturridge and Suarez, not Coutinho. I'm curious of how he would have fared as a replacement for Sturridge in the 2nd half. Alberto seems to be the obvious alternative for Cout, though he might not be ready just yet. But we've got to throw him in to give him confidence, not let him dwindle away on the bench. When we buy talent, we must be prepared to let them evolve further
