Is it possible that Balotelli had some personal issues to deal with meaning he wasn't able to work? Maybe something to do with his father being ill and dying? And that Raheem is simply an ill-advised spoiled idiot who is f*cking up his career all on his own (although with help from his manager & friends)?

Someone on TAW said something to the effect that we were the best youth team in the league or a glorified youth team IIRC. Promoting U-16's and U-19's managers and coaches kinda supports that view...

There are positives and negatives about that though. In most sports here in Iceland (well... the popular ones at least) we have proper coaching from a very young age. But with that comes at times a completely unacceptable workload IMO for kids. Pretty much every club in Iceland is an "elite" club trying to create professional footballers while very few (if any) are just for kids to get together and play some football with their friends. This means that those who aren't good enough for the 1st team in most clubs quit playing/training between 14-18 years of age. It's no fun for kids to not get a chance to play which means the good training sessions aren't worth it anymore. It also means that the cost of training is quite high which can make it hard for low-income families to afford it. Training for my 6 year old daughter costs around 200 pounds for the year. And then you have to buy the gear as well. But it also means that the prospects get what they need from a very young age. Which is why there's been a marked difference in the technical ability of Icelandic footballers the last few years compared to before.

Not this in isolation no. But seeing as we've just let a former U16's coach leave after having promoted him to the 1st team (with a short stop in the U18's) one starts to wonder if there's a pattern emerging.

I agree with that. I'd also prefer to find a place for Lucas in the team but based on what it appears like Brendan likes in his players I thought the above was the best fit. Agree?

Probably not. But just trying to see what could possibly be our plan with him going forward. See what kind of player profiles he likes and see how that might fit into what we are doing.

I want a new manager to come in but I'm still scarred after we fired Rafa and brought in that fool that nearly destroyed our club. If there isn't a high-profile and well respected manager available it's best to stick with Brendan but create a framework around him that helps him do what the club expects. Shouts of De Boer or Koeman don't fill me with confidence as I've seen nothing from them that says they are better than Brendan. Someone like Rafa, Klopp, Simeone, Rudi Garcia, Bielsa or Emery should be targeted. IMHO most of these could be convinced if they are just given enough money. That's how sh*t gets done. But I still feel like s*** having lost faith in Brendan. I like the guy and he's done OK. But OK isn't good enough.

Offer Sterling a 5 year contract worth 50k/week with limited bonuses and no get-out clause. Tell him it's that or nothing. And if he chooses nothing he'll train on his own for the next one/two years getting no game-time.
