  1. Agreed. Ferguson will be friendly to any Liverpool manager as long as we dont pose a threat.
  2. One possible reason for this is that Rafa does not manage his resources intelligently. Essentially when a player gets into his good books, he is rarely dropped however s*** he plays. There is no incentive for him to play. First year, Crouch got chances after chances. Next year very little even though he played well. Then he became third choice to Voronin. I am not defending Riera, but he barely got a look in this year. Same with Babel whom I thought could have played a little bit more the last few years. I am not a Kuyt basher but I am sure he could have been rested for a series of games in the last few years and given more chances to Babel and Crouch.
  3. I dont agree with you 100 % on Kuyt . However, I do agree with the general sentiment.
  4. If he used the phrase "sinking ship" he deserves to be fined heavily. Whatever may be the reason, it is unacceptable for a professional to use such language to describe the club which is paying him high wages.
  5. The series of one-two's near the D's leading to a Gerrard shot and then a Babel shot in the second half was just pure magic. One of the best pieces of play we have shown this season. Second only to Reina's pass to release Babel - Fabregas, Xavi, Pirlo, Alonso - would have been proud of that pass. It was that good.
  6. It is all about the momentum. If we sell six to seven first team players, replacing them will be very very difficult. We will be seen as a club on the decline. With the competition in the premier league - Villa, Spurs, City not to mention United, Arsenal and Chelsea- we will have a tough time attracting any decent players. Unless we have a youth set up with three or four world class players waiting to burst out and make a mark in the premier league from the word go - what you are suggesting is a very very bad idea. Look at newcastle.
  7. I can understand if anfield11 has reservations about american owners. But one thing he should realize is that there are tons of well run "franchises" in the US sports market. Owners who know when to invest, when to cut down on spending, when to trust the coaching set up, how to market their club and when to remain in the background and let the coaches do the talking - San Antonio Spurs, Steelers, Packers etc. We dont hear about them because they try to stay away from the media. The only issue is that none of them will be willing to work with Hicks and Gillette.
  8. I agree with you in the sense that the wording and the focus of the protests have to be refined. Even though I like the SOS, I really dont like the slogans being used in some of the banners. For example, given that I am living in the US ( I am an Indian, BTW ), I would prefer generic words like "YANKS" and "COWBOYS" being avoided.

  15. There is a Tendulkar thread there which is a masterpiece.
  16. He is exactly that. Loves to be in the limelight. Makes sure there is plenty of photo ops.
  17. Even though he was born into a rich family, Mukesh Ambani has shown good business acumen in taking his dad's business to the next level. He is the owner of the Mumbai indians in the IPL and has been a decent owner so far. Has remained in the background and backed the team with money during the player auctions.
  18. Yup I knew that. This was more in response to the insinuations made earlier that Americans cannot be good owners.
  19. Agree. I think if we get Robert Kraft, we would have the best owners in the PL ( maybe even Europe) and he is as American as it gets.
  20. Once he gets settled to the pace of the game, he will do well for us. He is trying too hard to impress now. His passing is not as bad as it was in yesterday's game. When I see him play, I see similarities to Evra and Vidic when they first played in the league. They looked like lost kids who did not want to get on to the pitch. Everything went past them. I just feel Aquilani is in a similar phase and he is trying hard to adjust. One thing is sure though. He is no Xabi style deep lying playmaker. He loves the runs into the box.

  22. I agree with the general essence of the post but I think you are going a bit overboard on the praise. I would not describe kuyt's contribution as brilliant by any means. He barely scored the season before last. He was shifted to the right where he had a good 32/3 of a season. This season he is back to his 2007-20078 form. I respect his contribution when he is in form. But he is out of form for too long. And when he is out of form, he contributes absolute zilch in an attacking sense. His inability to initiate any sort of attacking play during his bad form negates his defensive contribution. He does his best to overcome his limitations. He works hard for the shirt. I applaud him for that. However, calling Rafa's treatment of Kuyt is a bit over the top. Paisley's treatment of Ray Kennedy was brilliant. Rafa's treatment of Kuyt aint!
