I think it's a case of them not wanting to leave and Rafa saying either go or rot in the reserves as i'll play the kids before i give you a look in. It's harsh but Rafa has never been one for sentiment. He probably also doesn't want to cup tie them. However if they are still here after the deadline they will probably be on the bench again.
