  2. There were plenty of youngsters back then who were never given the chance to progress at a crucial period in their careers during an era when the reserve league and loan system were inadequate to say the least. Obviously same can be said now but we persisted with some mediocre senior players
  3. I can't see Isak playing in a three with our midfield behind him - more likely to be a more creative forward who scores goals than a goalscorer who occasionally gets assists
  4. Crap signal strength
  5. You rang ?
  6. Donny Wijsmuller joined Bournemouth for about 15m, has started 22 games but has been spoken about as a potential signing for a few months, which means he was playing near to that eye-catching level after just a handful of games. Now, surely, we can avoid replicating Chelsea but still sign that type of player before the PL tax is added ? Or do we just keep Nat Phillips on £65k a week ?
  7. I think Szoboszlai has surprised some of the fanbase in different aspects but there's an element of the Gerrard before Rafa refined his qualities - particularly as I think he's over exerting himself due to inefficiencies elsewhere ( our right side needs refining ) Trent and Salah are different players now to those when we won the league and CL L and we need to evolve
  8. Santos at Lille is potentially very good. He's the right age and ideal for competing with Bradley

  10. Gravenberch as the 6 was a wonderful bonus during the first half of the season but clubs predictably learned after the first round of matches and his influence has dropped - fitness has been a significant issue but so has tactics Issues with our #9 / #10 position have also contributed, affecting the midfields influence on games they were dominating earlier in the season; ditto Salah having his usual Spring drop off in performances It's a minimum of four new players and any less is inexcusable, given the lack of signings last summer
  11. And also partly why Trent leaves on a free - his pay rise reduces our options
  12. His final season was his second best in terms of goals and his debut season was the only one where he scored less than 16 I'd take his last two years over anything we've had since ( Salah apart, obvs )
  13. The punishment has to appear metered and calculated because arbitrary penalties and fines will just work in City's favour
  14. Grealish was the most fouled player in the league. Because the threshold for Salah has always been much higher Burn flattened Jota ( I think ) when going for a header by using his arms and that challenge would likely have been a foul most other times.
  15. I've seen that - another example, like Oliver against Everton, of the ref turning his back on a situation and jogging away without keeping his eyes on play They're getting worse
  16. If that were me, my three year old would need a new drum
  17. I think Virgil and Salah stay; Trent goes because we're not paying a right back 300k per week and he's been less vocal about his commitment We're not renewing all three at a million a week
