I agree - it's not just the delivery but movement off the ball that i think is poor. It's the same on crosses and free-kicks. Everything looks very predictable. And one thing i've noticed about when opponents mark up against us is that they rarely have their best player in the air up against Sami. Usually someone who can just mark him and block him off. And as Leo says, Carra going up for a set piece is like sending Graham Norton to Spearmint Rhino's.

I agree that Finnan could take them but it then asks the question who do you leave back ? If Kewell is on the pitch should he not take them ? I've never liked Gerrard taking them because he's not that good anyway, is pretty good in the air and could also be better placed on the edge of the area. It must be frustrating. A few times this season Garcia has been the worst player on the pitch and not been substituted, although changing tactics is not just about taking the worst player off the field.

I wanted us to sign Morientes and have backed him since he arrived but he needs to score more goals. His teamplay, linking with other players is generally excellent and he's invaluable in helping move the ball up the pitch and bringing our wide players into the game. However, he seems to have lost a yard or two of pace and was never the quickest player anyway. I'd have liked Morientes play alongside Sinama but that's not going to happen this season. Cisse appears to be incapable of striking up a consistent relationship with those around him and Crouch is back in a bit of a rut...frustrated and not scoring. Maybe Robbie will be this years Gary Mac and give everyone a lift as most of the team look off pace and out of form.
