Interesting stats. Does it suggest Newcastle sitting deep against the big teams and hitting on the counter with Gordon's pace? That is unlikely to be how we play, so does that blunt some of his effectiveness?

Earlier in the season we would have said that was our strongest line up, but we were so far off it tonight. Has happened a few times under Jurgen that our heads just completely go for a few weeks, shame it has happened at the worst possible time -

Hard to disagree with results By the way, Gary O'Neil who was the one sacked, also used to be at Portsmouth during the same period as Hughes and Edwards and was previously one of our youth coaches. I agree it's rubbish and I feel for the fans of whichever club is bought and potentially loses its individual identity, however I don't think anyone is saying you need to follow whichever the other team is!

Might depend what he wanted from his career. If his ambition was financial security for himself and his family (as opposed to winning stuff), he has achieved that. It is really hard to judge the merits of any of those individual players in such a basket case of a club and team though

We'd want Ali in the champions league though. Kelleher presumably would want to play more, but he won't get occasions like today (or 2022) at some mid table PL club
