Quansah, Gomez and Konate have all played on the left of the two CB for us. And VDB has been doing it during pre-season. They predominantly play on the right because Virgil always plays, not because they can't play on the left

Feels like there is quite a lot of depth to the squad, with good quality cover for virtually all positions. But our strongest eleven has gaps at 6 and big question marks over central defence and the forwards. But those are likely to be expensive and harder to find Can't wait for the season to start and the window to close

On a TAW podcast this week there was someone on talking about the financial problems in the French league - big issue with getting a TV deal at the value they want. Might make French clubs keener to cash in on players

We don't know what would have happened without covid though. There was lots of talk of moving on one of mane or salah to fund a refresh. Then the bottom fell out of football finances I am deeply frustrated by fsg failing to seize many opportunities over the years, not sure this is one of them. Last I checked they couldn't have predicted covid or what its implications for football were
