Beeb running a short feature on the 4-4 complete with'highlights'of the goals. Something was seriously up with us that night. Goals 1,2 and 4 for them were jokes to give away -

Pep just needs to look at Jurgen and see how much better off life is on the other side of this. My only only only concern is that they are such a busted flush that by the time we play them out becomes like playing United who have one good game a season and it's cos it's us -
Gk. Ali, mamardashvili, jaros (kelleher leaving) FBs: Bradley, Robbo, 2 new lads (trent and Greek scouser leaving) CBs: VVD, Ibou, new lad, Joe (Quansah on loan. Virgil new contract) Mids: Grav, Mac, Dom, Jones, New lad, (2 from Endo, McConnell, bajcetic.. At least one to leave plus harvey) Forwards: Mo (stays!), Gakpo, Nunez, New lad, one of Jota / Diaz (the other goes), chiesa Players in bold.. 25/26 last year at the club

Chiesa gives me Vladi vibes. Similar look. Similar thin arms. All the skill is there but not quite the presence to impose himself consistently on games... Scores a goal in the CL final and nets a penalty in the shootout and walks away a hero.. I'd take that for chiesa

Match Topic Plymouth vs Liverpool - FA Cup, 9th February @ 3pm

A side that has never played together played against a resolute first 11 who are on their home ground in the biggest game of their lives.. Judging either the younger players or the more senior ones in that context is pretty pointless This tournament tends to get real busy around quarter and semi final time when it's quarters or semis in the champions league and theres 8 or so games left in the league. The boss treated that game as if it was PSG away and there was nothing to play for. That speaks volumes. I always want us to win once the match starts and so should every player who ever plays for us But it's over. Done. And we move on with a better chance in the games that will really matter when we're not having to navigate a quarter final away at old trafford. I can live with that -

The idea we should have kept all those sold cos they could play in this game is daft -

Must mean trent injury a little worse than being portrayed.. Protecting Bradley -
Get this man an absolute belter of a song.. Deserves far more than the dirge rendition of his name

Carra on form this evening. Great perspective on virgil. He's playing the game at PL and CL level and he's too good for those levels. He makes the highest level of the game look easy. -

Watching two adults on sky explaining why some dealsheets go beyond the 11pm deadline with the same level of over wrought angst you'd associate with a major global news item really does make me question some life choices
-
Aye.. Pretty chilled with this one myself. Next 12 months are huge no matter what. Maybe we'll have to replace virgil, Mo, trent.. Maybe we won't. Maybe Ali will move on, maybe he won't. But when we're 12 games away from winning the league, the best team in Europe, and in both domestic cups, with most of the major players on form... Then.. Just enjoy

So are we getting Kekir then or not? Streams playing up..

It's clear we're going to take it seriously and it's clear we going to play a strong team. We didn't go with a strong side to Spurs to have them come back to anfield and lie down. We'll play to win this and rotate heavily for the FA Cup, then full strength v Moyesboys -
The rhetoric around Trent is loaded atm, but he also plays in a position in which a good performance rarely attracts overt praise, and that's kind of the deal with the position. He gets praised when he does something no other full back seems capable of doing, but those are 'moments' in an age of reels. Some of those are really productive, but it's been a long, long time since he ran a game from full back. If that's a high bar I'd say that's what he sets himself when he talks about redefining the position and winning the ballon d'or. Otherwise it should be par for the course to say your fullbacks did their job, were really good, and move on to the shiny lads who put the ball in the net. Criticism comes with the position as it does with any defender as one mistake can lead to a goal. I don't want trent to get praised for occasional moments of genius. I just want excellent performances to be unnoticed and par for the course.

I wonder when these lads who are approaching the end of a contract and who are lining up signing on a free, start to worry about one injury putting the whole of their future in real jeopardy? Imagine doing your ACL the day before you sign your new contract for 5 years, compared to the day after...

They go at that rate this year they hit 88 points. We need 32 from 45 possible to match that. If we do our job, we win this league. Still......

Love the idea that Manchesters greatest Belfast import, big Jim Mcdonald, will be called in to sort reuben out
