    I always find losing on pens relatively easier to swallow than losing in normal time. I guess the ‘toss up’ nature of a pen shootout gives me some false comfort. in reality though we were outplayed over the two legs and by some distance. That first leg they gave us a hiding even though we landed the last most telling pinch.

    If any good comes out of this I hope we can now appreciate the technical gap with Europe’s top sides and invest accordingly in the summer. Their ability to control and pass under pressure was a world apart and we did well to dodge a few bullets at there’s.

    They are exceptional at covering the passing lanes. Making ALL our passing look stray. Admittedly some loose passing from us at times.
