I'm confused by Gordon, he's called Tony and he played for the Ev but he's not actually blus****?? On the playing side he looks good to me when he's got a lot of space to run into and not sure he'd get that with us. I've only really seen him playing against us (and one time against City) so I've not paid enough attention to know if this is actually the case though so be interested to see how it might work out...

What about most disappointing for their extra-football activities? I'm thinking maybe Pepe for his far right tendencies? Phil Neal for the Hillsborough stuff? Lawrenson for being Lawrenson or Murphy for being Murphy?

yeah, for this reason I'm going controversial with Riedle and Morientes. Neither terrible and good pros, just wanted more, pair of them lacked a bit of aggression for their role I think.

Yeah, so lets gather some evidence He did, but (if memory serves) there were also times when he picked a CM 3 and Gerrard wouldn't be in it so I'm not sure he trusted him tactically. Again, I'm not having a go at Gerrard just making the point that nobody has the complete game in there so worrying about weaknesses in Trent's game misses the point, it'll be about the blend of players and how to get the best out of him. With Bradley coming through and a new manager/setup, now's the time...

I never said they weren't. But, for example, Rafa rarely trusted Gerrard to be one of a 2 in CM and as often as not various England managers would fudge him into the team elsewhere. From what I can tell a lot of the reservations about banging Trent in there are this kind of thing. I reckon he'd score more goals than any of our current midfield and bringing that range of passing into the middle isn't to be sniffed at. The positives and negatives are there with all midfielders, nobody is really complete in there so why not give this fella right under our noses a go??

We have no idea and close to zero evidence that this is true. There may be weaknesses with regard to systems and discipline but i doubt any more so than, say, Steven Gerrard. Its time to stop wondering and answer the question otherwise we might let a world class midfielder go on a free.
