Lose 2-1 away means u NEED to score at home. Draw 0-0 away means u do not NEED to score at home. it could go to ET/penalties two completely different approach to the home game. The mentality for the players and how a manager sets up his team/formation for the home game will also be different.
I don't think with Kuyt's style of play, we could afford to play with 1 striker up front (if that striker is kuyt obviously). Anyone know how feyenoord's formation while he was there?
that's their tactics blown away then.......If i'm rijkaard, i won't be too happy. "The aim is to score two goals in the first half hour and then defend that lead," http://www.fcbarcelona.com/eng/noticias/no...n07030504.shtml
i get what u're saying, but why can teams like Mancs, Chavs & Barcelona know their first XI. it's not about arrogance, but if a team/manager knows that he has a first XI, it does bring stability to the team. you can tinkle here and there depending on fitness/form, but FWIW, a good team needs to know his first choice starting eleven & his first preference system. we're lucky that we have Rafa who has more 'armory' on his tactical nous and not 'tied-up' to play certain players i.e. sheva & chavs, but i do sincerely believe he needs to have a 'fixed' first XI and a prefered system.
FWIW, i think to survive in the league, we need to play with 2 strikers. so i think it'll be kuyt & ANother. so, IMHO, rafa'll rotate between playing a 4-4-2 system with Gerrard on the right or 3-5-2 with Gerrard playing the free-er role, in which will be his prefered choice if we could get Alves & a proper left wing-back (Lahm/Riise/Aurelio???). In which in both cases, he'll rotate Xabi, Mascherano & Sissoko for that 2 central midfield role, no? Should be an interesting summer, for sho.
Change Finnan with Hyypia or Woodgate and we may have a deal! Subs from Carson, Finnan, Riise/Aurelio, Garcia, Sissoko, Crouch & FSP This CM stuffs are f***ing boss!!!
a midfield consisting of Alonso, Sissoko, Gerrard & Kaka would be fabolous. with a defense of Agger, Carra, Alves & Riise and forward-line of Kuyt & Eto'o
My two-cents' worth. I think it's due to a couple of reasons. 1- it's fasting month. momo is not up to his usual self. his style of play means that he's the one who needs to run at oppo players the most and when u're fasting...well, it's just ain't possible. 2- rotation. I know Rafa means well, but too much of it makes it confusing for the players. play to OUR strength rather than looking too much on the opposition. relax, rafa'll get it sorted soon.
I don't know it's relevant or not, but with Cole & Campbell leaving the Ars*, they do not have any English players anywhere near their 1st team right? I don't think Walcott will be given too much playing time as Enger just bought Rosicky. FWIW, i'm not english and I don't actually care, but for a top English team to not have any english players, that's a bit sad.
