yes...but if we were to play the 4-3-3 system next season, just having Masch, Barry, Gerrard & Lucas (or even with Plessis) as your central midfield options are a bit thin...unless carra as backup holding midfielder. don't forget, Masch is going to Beijing in August.

Currently we have Torres, Gerrard, Kuyt & Babel as our 'front four' with Voronin, Crouch, Pennant & Yossi as backup. depending on budget, realistically, Voronin should be kept for another season as backup to Torres, although i prefer it to be Crouch. our main concern should be to buy a first-11 to replace Kuyt...who would then be a good squad player to have. next season's 'front-four': Torres, Gerrard, Messi/Kaka/Zico & Babel with Kuyt, Voronin, Pennant & Yossi.

Simple answer is yes. But as Big Stuff mentioned, not good enough to be a starting-11 on a regular basis. However, should we buy an exceptional Alves/Cafu-like right(wing)back in the summer, then his value might be better than a conventional Right-Midfielder. Good squad/team player to have.

i really like the current formation of 4-3-3 (or 4-2-4, or 4-5-1)... so in order to maintain this formation, here's my thought... GK - Reina & Itanje defence (4) - Arbeloa, Alves, Carra, Skrtel, Agger, Hyypia, Insua, Aurelio midfield (3) - Masch, Gerrard, Alonso, Lucas, Guthrie forward (3) - Torres, Babel, Kuyt, Crouch, Benayoun, ANother with Finnan, Riise, Kewell, Voronin, Carson & Pennant being shifted out and 2 VERY good first-team players (Alves & Messi-type) being brought in. This FM thing is easy!!

Agree with this. Except we should buy a REALLY world class striker. let's buy quality. not seen much of Aguero TBH. Let's go & try for Zlatan, Villa or even perhaps Eto'o. stevie, mascher, lucas & guthrie for our central midfield looks good enough.

I'd play Gerrard right(ish) midfield with an overlapping, cafu-like, right wing-back. alves perhaps? play babel and aurelio on the left. and a partner for torres, yes.

the question wld then be, do u replace hyypia with 'experience' or u want to bring sonmeone young(youth squad perhaps). this person must know our 'systems' and be willing to sit on the bench as it's pretty sewn up that carra & agger are our 2 main central defenders. RB rarely 'rotates' his back 5.
