if we could only buy 1 player this window, i think it's best to focus on getting an upgrade for Origi/Takumi i.e. 5th or 6th attacker. I believe last season's poor run was the drop in form of Mane & Bobby plus Jota's injury. And of course for not getting a proper 4th CB, which we have addressed.
Ideally we need to sign an attacker plus Gini's replacement.
Guess depends what role does JK sees Taki, Ox & Keita in the coming matches. Also how Thiago fits into the system. The boss seemingly was trying to go for the 4-2-3-1 system early in the season before the injuries. I can see him trying again for that system with a Thiago/Henderson/Fabinho/Keita/Jones as the midfield-2 once we get everyone fit.
As much I love Gini, I can see why the club think he's not a priority signing, moving forward.
I think Klopp himself would like to work with a set number of players. Anything more and there's some unhappy players not even on the bench. On top of that it's commendable that he's willing to really give the kids a chance to succeed. This sits well with FSG's overall vision to balance the budget on & off the field
It's great, on paper, having 20 world class players but if everyone's fit, we can only play 11+5 players. Especially the 'big games'. Competition for a place is good, but so is job security that if i make a few mistakes, i'll still be in the team and the boss have total faith in me. Not to mention not having to deal with too many egos/agents of world class players.
After the last couple of season, i have faith in our management team. and as long as we have Klopp, we'll be great. He's the key to our on-field success.
After Everton, our next match against Spurs are about 7 days away. And after that another 7 days before Mancs. (unless there's an FA Cup replay) So that would be the time for resting players.
