ASton Villa away sold it for me Pepe is the best keeper in the league by miles, he was swweping, kicking with both feet and made important saves when needed. IMO our "good" start to the season is largely down to him.

I think Rafa is basically over-valueing the players he wants to keep - but saying he will let them go for the right price, applying to Kuyt, Benayoun and Alonso.

erm....hate to state the obvious but surely the discussion on xabi alonso belongs in a xabi alonso thread. All this alonso related argument is spoiling my transfer thread lurking.

His mum n step dad live down my road - spoke to his step dad the other day - said hed just extended to 3 years and was considering blackpool cos hes just bought a house (and a pool table)

even if this is pure paper talk im very happy - for 3 weeks now been putting an elaborate scheme toghether with the lads from footie to convince my anti-voronin bluenose mate that hes signing for everton - so for him my "German Club" is actually gonna be the blue s****!

ive seen the official press release for today about an hour ago and the outside pictures of the stadium look well good, wasnt overly impressed by the internal one - looks like some1s knocked it up this morning in photoshop!! only 5 mins to go though, hopefully there will be more images to look at!

plus it would be nice to snatch him from under the Chav's Noses, I think Heinze is more realistic, and thats sayin sumthin considering the 43 year lack of direct movement between us n the mancs

add to the fact that hes only got 2 years left on his contract and this has the impact of reducing any fee (a la thierry henry 16m)

3 at the back with 2 wing backs is what i was referring too, i think alonso at anfield is far more adventurous than a "defensive" midifielder where his passing is the key to a lot of our attacking play.

I think it is a good shout, especially at Anfield were we will rarley need 4 at the back due to teams just sitting with 11 men behind the ball - allows us to stick alonso in the middle with gerrard and mascherano/sissoko. Rafa started to show he was using different systems at times last season when we went to places like Watford away and played 3 strikers. Anyway I think Heinze would be a good signing, hes got PL experience, is settled in the north west and is better defensivley than riise.
