I can sort of get why Lavia's ego might have been hurt by us switching to another target. But in terms of mistreating players, that's nothing compared to what Chelsea did to Tyler Adams where they went through nearly all the way then dumped him when they realised they could get both Lavia and Caicedo.
Basically - I think we made tactical errors but we actually treated players with more respect than Chelsea did in this whole saga.
All the reporting suggests that we made a sudden opportunistic switch to Caicedo. You'd have to hope though that there was a reserve or alternative for Lavia lined up, given that we were clearly reluctant to commit to him a couple of weeks ago.
