I agree with you about the goals part (bloody obvious, isn't it ) and I've complained quite a few times about playing the support pass instead of adapting a more direct style. The amount of support passes we play breaks up any chance of rhythm in the team and everybody stands around instead of playing off each other - that is a serious problem which must be adressed. And, yes, we must be the worst team in all leagues when it comes to taking a corner kick. Still, I think we did much better today. We had some flow, we held a fairly high tempo, we chased the ball and Boro hardly got out of their own half for much of the game. The way we play nowadays, I don't expect to see the Liverpool of old, which played some of the most beautiful football ever played. However, we must take one small step at a time, and I think we did that today.

Shure, the league is spent (with 99% certainty), but there's still much to fight for - and it will be a battle for us to be among the top four and qualify for CL next season - or we can just win it like we did the last time we didn't qualify yessssssssssssss
-
Really? I can understand it since you probably expected us to loose at Arsenal and similarly win against Boro (correct me if I'm wrong), but I'm talking about the way I felt the players tried to take the game to Boro - against Arsenal and Manure, we just folded and let them have it their own way. No heart, no fighting, no chasing... no nothing really. Tonight they looked like they wanted the game.
-
Far too much negativity on here after this match. Granted, it was called for after the Manure and the a****** games - where we played like toothless fairies, but tonight I still think we chased the game and were unlucky/not 100% sharp enough to finish them off. Still, this was much, much, much better than the before mentioned games (granted we met lesser opposition).
-
But they beat Chelsea and the bitters and this was their third clean sheat at home in a row, so I don't feel too down - like some others on here tonight.
-
Yes, apart from Pompey - currently at no. 3 on the table.
-
Shure, but even though Boro have been terrible this year, they have been quite good at home. I think we easily made them look worse than any other team have managed so far this year playing in their back yard.
-
Yes, our corners are absolutely pants. Not rocket science is it, just lift the ball hard in front of the goal and go after it - but nooooo, we obviousely have other plans - even though they never work. Don't have a clue why this hasn't been fixed. Should be easy as having a pint.

I'm sorry for the two points lost today, but I'm far from being part of the doom and gloom after this game. This was by far our best away game in the premiership this year, and we just lacked that last prosentage of sharpness to put them away. Our players controlled the game, except for the first 20 minutes of the first period and about 15 minutes of the start of the second period. After that, Boro hardly managed to break into our half and they created only one chance, albeit it was huge and they should have scored. If we continue this and add the last sharpness, we will win a lot of games comfortably. Off course, it was too bad we didn't get the full monty, and the gap to the top grew even bigger - but I think we are about to journey on a long winning streak.

Biscan?

Think I said that earlier, but I'm so tired of seeing him just trying to control the opposition without making one decent tackle I'd go for Warnock now. At least you know he will do his absolutely best to throw in a huge tackle. If he miss, the wingback will have acres as you said, but there's really no difference compared to Riise. Like Hleb did last night, you just have to pass Riise on his right and his way out of possition.
-
Is correct. He can't tackle for sh*t. Watched the Reading game quite a few times and he tried to tackle once in the whole game. It was the worst excuse for a tackle I've ever seen! I was actually shocked today when he did tackle once at the corner of Arsenals box, and won us the ball. But I'm sick and tired of us being such pants. Bring on Warnock and let him tackle the sh*t out of someone.
-
Sami is still great at positioning and breaking in front of the offense, but he should be subbed by Agger from now on. The second goal today was just tragic. Everybody new Arsenal would play through balls behind our defense. Still, Carra and Sami let it happen, and not only once. It's like it was the "only" tactic from Arsenal today, and you just knew they would succeed at one time or another. I'm livid they made it work.
-
Agree. It's sooooo depressing to watch us when we play like this. Give me Tommy Smith rejuvenated any day. The only thing we are really good at at the moment are playing support balls, and that breaks up any flow or movement we might have created.
-
We need a left back who can make a f****ng tackle. I've watched Riise with special care for the last two games and he just do not tackle at all! All he ever do is try to control his opposition. Hleb just had to go left every time today and Riise was caught out of possition. No wonder he stays healthy most of the time. He just isn't physical at all. Give me Warnock instead. OK. He tackles like a madman from time to time and get caught out, but at least he tries!

It looked like the players knew they could moan and complain to him and hence he would be more favorable towards us at later occasions.

Just read that he's got 14 brothers/sisters. And we sing we'll like a team of Carragers. With Momo, with really could have a team... of Momoes. (just can't figure out who's gonna score the goals).

I am (it just say norwegian in my passport, which surely must be wrong)
-
Yeah, probably. But this is vented so many times on different forums, I think it's a truth in it (at least you think it is).

FFS. This p*****s me off - big time. I'm a WOOL, and f****g proud of it. I travel to Liverpool twice a year, spend a f*****g fortune each time, I sing my throut soare to the extent I can't talk for a week (kind of embarassing when at work afterward -but f***k it...). For all the wools I know, it's like Christmas and New Years Eve put togheter to be able to travel to Anfield. We f****g looooooove it!!! And you should be proud to have a club that foreigners love as much as you do. If I could, I would go far more often, but work and lack of money prevents me from it. You living in Liverpool or close by don't know how f****g lucky you are who can go to every game (or you sure as h**l don't appreciate it enough). To constantly blame us wools for lack of atmosphere is a f******g rasist attitude. It annoys the h*ll out of me and frankly I loose every respect I ever had for people with that sh*t attitude. So I suggest you take a goooooooood look at yourself and ask if you are doing enough to help the atmosphere. Rant over..... (and sorry for the spelling) And by the way, I'm not only a big fan of the team. I also love Liverpool and the people living there. If I could, I would gladly live there.

How was the reception for Vladi? Anything special? Didn't catch anything on the TV except for a short shot of Vladi in the stands (bench?).

Alan Hansen has some valid points, but generally he shoots in all directions with this article. But, Rafa MUST sort out: * The lack of a playing pattern. We have no movement, and it seems to me we lack a general plan for our way of playing * Stop the rotation until we'll get a settled team * Let players who performs well play. Why Gonzalez was taken off last night beats me? * Keep it simple. Now, we have too many players trying flick-ons resulting in us loosing the ball after two seconds in possession * Use players in their best positions. Pennant as a left wing? Don't think so... * Have a long, serious talk with the skipper. He looks so f*cking gloomy these days, not performing anywhere near to his standards, not leading by example and generally not motivating his teammates. Even though he's not playing in his favorite position, he is the captain of Liverpool FC. He should act like one and do his best, not try to emulate Fat Frank. Double standards because he's not playing in his best position? Maybe, but then again he IS the captain and so I expect more from him than from his teammates.
-
I'm not one who usually jumps on the bandwagon but today was f*cking embarrasing. * Garcia = Lost the ball onemillionfivehundredandfourtytwo times today. * Gerrard = Why the f*ck wasn't he subbed. The worst I've ever seen him. Wasn't even a shaddow of his former self. * Kuyt = Rio didn't even break sweat to guard him. Obviously can't be a lone target man against the better teams * Rafa = The worst managing he's done so far. What was the subbs about? Taking off Gonzalez who actually was doing OK. Also, what did he do during the break. We came out abolutely flat. * The midfield in general = Gives very poor support to the strikers. No deep runs into the box (like Scholes did when he scored) makes us very weak upfront. Rafa needs to assess what he wants the team to do. Today we didn't have a f*cking clue.
-
He only makes good headers when he's running into the ball. Doesn't have the body strength to get any velocity on the ball if he's standing still. And I agree, he fouls ALOT. Nearly always putting his arms on the defenders shoulders.

Yes, but then I said it wasen't based solely on impact but more on what found memories I have of the players. But there's no doubt Souness has been one of our most influential players, ever.
