I think it’s simply down to risk. Is it riskier to start Elliott in a game, any game, over Szoboszlai or Jones? Probably, yes. Ditto Endo/Gravenberch Tsimikas/Robbo Bradley/Trent Chiesa/anyone. He was explicit about Ali coming straight back in after his first long injury, even when Kelleher was playing well. His style of play is much less risky than Jurgen. He’s a numbers guy. He needs more numbers.

I agree on Arsenal. I think their manager is too intense, too weird, and I think he doubts himself. I don’t think he’s (personally) good enough to manage a League winning team. That said, if he does it this season I’ll shove a kindling cactus up me hoop and tie myself to the stake.

Yep. Assume Virg and Mo stay. New second keeper (done, Kweev out). Defence New Left Back needed (He can't trust either of the current two for a full season with another year in their legs) New Right Back needed (cover for Bradley at LEAST, if not a starter with Bradley as backup - I suspect the former) At least one new Centre Back needed (Slot clearly doesn't rate Quansah, Joe has injury issues, Konate hasn't signed a new deal, Virg good as he is, is a year older and can't be expected to play 60 games) Midfield Ideally a number #6 backup to Gravenberch (may be Bajetic - The manager doesn't like Endo enough to start him, so what's the point? sell him - IF we're not signing another #6 I do think the manager needs to look more at using Jones and/or Szoboszlai, maybe McConnell in there to give Gravenberch a proper rest) Definitely another number #8 OR a #10 needed that the manager trusts (Mac A, Curtis and Dom all great and McConnell, Nyoni coming along, but both too young to trust yet. Manager hates Elliott , so he should sell him. If he doesn't he needs to find a way of playing him more. Attack Jesus - Where to start? A new starting, reliable number 9 is an absolute must. I'd sign a top class versatile forward too if possible. One who can start many games from the right, thus resting Salah. And, by the way, Arne, grow some balls and do this on occasion. Sell or give away Nunez and Chiesa (the manager hates him more than he does Harvey and he thinks Harvey slashes his tyres) Integrate Danns into the squad. Sell at LEAST one of Gakpo, Diaz or Jota and replace them with better, faster, fitter, more consistent player(s) ANY signings we make 100% have to have the manager's backing (unlike Chiesa who could not have had). In that regard it's similar to Amorim at Utd - he wants players to fit the one system he abides by, Arne is much more flexible imo, but needs HIS men, now that he's had a look at Klopp's men). ========== While it's true to say that a title winning side* should expect to go again (and I think we will), this was such an unusual achievement. The manager has done it without signing anyone. It's actually remarkable what he's achieved. He's gotten the most out of some players on their last legs, with three key players about to (maybe) leave, a decent amount of injuries, rehabilitation of previously bit part players such as Gravenberch into key players, and insistence that other such as Trent stick to what they do best, and f*** the indulgence. He now needs to be backed or FSG towers needs to be attacked with a huge siloswarm of flesh eating bees. It really does. I'm neu glum now.
