Whilst I agree he signed rubbish I do think he actually regressed players which made his record look worse. For instance as has been pointed out Diao looked good at first and then turned in to the player he is now. Was this becuase he was cr*p or because he was handled and coached badly? Since he has never looked good since this may well be because he is cr*p. But what about Heskey, when he was first signed he scored goals in the bit of the season that was left when he signed and then he scored goals the next season and he looked good, but then he went cr*p and he too has never looked decent since. Once again is this because he is cr*p or because he was coached badly? And Riise, in his first season he looked like a great signing, but in his second he really faded? Was this second season syndrome? Because the whole team performed badly? Or was it because he was badly coached? Dudek? Great first season and then he imploded. Biscan - he also looked great when he first played but then went backwards, again is it because he is cr*p or was he badly coached?

Well we still haven't won a league with Momo in our midfield but we did win number 5 with Hamman in it and to be pedantic Hamman cost 8m and Momo 5.5. I think one of the problems Houllier had when he bought players was that he couldn't develop them and in many cases he seemed to regress them, which made him seem very wasteful with the transfer money.
