No need to get defensive mate, I never did say that all English supporters are xenophobic, jingoistic, etc. I said that in times like the world cup these feelings tend to get mobilised and how national pride can blend in with jingoism because of the various elements like the press. As I said there is no agreed idea what Englishness is, so ppl have different ideas of what it constitutes, the tabloids for instance would portray englishness in a very narrow minded way and since they have quite a sizeable readership thats why you get many posters saying how they are put off by the jingoism and stuff but that still does not necessarily mean they are saying all english fans are jingoistic, just that its quite sizeable enough to put a few ppl off from supporting england.
