I'm not concerned about them making money but competing for league titles. Hiring Bobby Valentine was a sham. His reputation as a manager is dreadful and his handling of players has been awful. He was a disaster waiting to happen but they still hired him. They have also stopped spending money on that club and their "moneyball " strategy is making them more like the small market Oakland A's than the big money market Boston Red Sox.
