Both Rodgers and Ayre have said that Champions League football will allow us to go for and get a higher calibre of player. Now - i'm pretty sure we could've signed Lambert, Vorm, Lovren and Lallana without it - if we offered enough money. Can and Moreno *possibly* not - but they're youngsters anyway. We were going after a far higher 'calibre' of player before we had CL in players like Mkhitaryan and Willian. Just surprised to see the type of player we're going after actually drop in... presumed attainability... since we nearly won the league. Not saying these aren't the right players, just a bit odd that i'm fairly sure we could've signed all of the players we've been (strongly) linked with if we'd come 5th.

Garay is a good defender but he's a proper slug. Not one for a high line you wouldn't have thought. Markovic is one of those that could go either way. Obvious quality and technically superb, but young players like that can come and go. Just look at Lamela. I'd be doing some serious due diligence on his personality/temperament as he'd cost a bundle. All that being said, it'd be Siqueira we're looking at you'd think as we do have previous.
