We've had one good season in about the last 7. We're not huge wage givers. Hummels and Reus are at a club who are Champions League regulars now, and got to a final very recently. It's stupid, City/Monaco-esque wages for these players - or the drawer of a top, top (mainstay) team like Real and Barca. It's not inferiority, it's just being realistic.

Both, really. Agreed. No worries about him generally.

It wasn't. His distribution is great but once or twice in a match he'll pull a howler. That gets picked up on by the bizarrely anti-Sakho commentators and all of a sudden he's deemed a liability. He does need to pack in those lapses, though. Don't think we've conceded from one yet but we almost have a few times.

Yes. But other clubs have all of that and more (except Gerrard). I.e. Real Madrid for James Rodriguez.

Because we're a level below the teams he could, and should, be playing for at the moment. We're not Real Madrid. We're not even Arsenal. Yet.

Reus wouldn't join Liverpool this summer.

I think we can for a certain level of players, but not the 'superstar' level - the players moving or mooted to move this summer i.e. Fabregas, James Rodriguez, Falcao, Suarez(!), Reus, Kroos, Sanchez. Yet, anyway. Another season or so at the top level and we'll be back in that market, finances permitting. Think we need to demonstrate we're a consistent top level team first to have a chance with players in that bracket. We can compete for the level below. Your Firminos, Griezmanns, Draxlers, Moratas, Remys, Bonys (Lallanas, Markovics) of this world.
