  1. That's not a bad shout. With Gakpo and Jota rotating. Perhaps that will be the way forward next season if Salah decides to move to the Saudi league.
  2. Villa under Emery are a very good team, so it is going to be very challenging without our first choice CBs, but hopefully Matip and Gomez do the job and we can go into the international break with 10 points out of 12.
  3. Was hoping for a 6, but this lad certainly has the talent and the fact the Jurgen and co. have been after him for so long tells us that they believe that he can be a star for us.
  4. I think Klopp has been very clear on Salah. He is not going anywhere this summer.
  5. Much rather Palhinha as well, but oh well. Gravenberch not counting towards the non-homegrown quota also suggests that they are still trying for a CB.
  6. I am certain they'll get him for less than the fee West Ham and we were quoted when enquiring for him earlier in the summer.
  7. To be fair, 30m Euros is a good fee for a player of his talent. I am still not convinced by him, but will be very happy to be proven wrong. I'd much rather pay the 60m for Palhinha as he massively improves us from the go, but for some reason the people at club who make the decisions do not seem to listen to my opinion.
  8. And they'd be right if this this true.
  9. If I remember correctly, we were linked with him earlier in the window. Can't say that I know much about him. Is he any good?
  10. No one seems to want Amrabat. Not a DM though.
  11. You may be right, and it may be Manu Kone. At this point I'd be happy with that, as I don't see us going all out on someone more proven such as Palhinha or Doucoure. His injury record is a worry, but if he can overcome that he is a big talent, and whilst can play as a 6 and an 8, he can potentially be molded into a top class DM.
  12. Palhinha out of that lot as he would massively improve us from day one. Doucoure a close second. Not optimistic on either. Can probably add Manu Kone and - to a lesser extent - Thuram to that list.
  13. I sincerely hope that they not putting all their eggs into Gravenberch, and that it will be him or nobody.
  14. True. The whole affair was a farce from LFC point of view. But to make it out to be a PR stunt makes no sense.
  15. I wonder if Warnock really said that. Not that I think that it is true, it would make no sense for FSG to do that. Besides, if Chelsea had not at least matched our bid then they would have had to pay that.

    Welcome VvD

Been bracing myself for a 3 match ban, so one isn't that bad. Agreed. If swearing at the referee warranted bans, they'd hadly be any players available to play.
  17. He is by far my favourite player, and the best CB in the squad by a country mile. Virgil who?

    Welcome VvD

Is it a one or three match ban? Been reading conflicting reports.
  19. Palhinha is immense and exactly what we need. Fulham will want an exorbitant fee for him, though, one which FSG will never in a million years sign off on for a player who turned 28 last month.
  20. Me too. They'll get CL football sooner rather than later. That will probably see even more money invested as they'll be hell bent on winning it.
  21. Where did I say that?
  22. Palhinha apparently had a very good game yesterday. He would be perfect for us. Our failure to address the midfield in the last few windows is infuriating. Klopp is not without blame here. Holding on to players too long, often refusing to compromise, waiting instead for the game changer that may never arrive (Tchouameni, Bellingham, Caicedo). If the rumours are true that the reason Edwards and Ward resigned is because Klopp received too much power, then the structure that served us so well is broken and needs to be put back in place as soon as possible.
  23. Doucoure is a great player, but probably worth no more than 50m in todays market. Palace, however, know that Liverpool have the money and is quickly running out of options, and consequently wont entertain bids under 70m. Liverpool have backed themselves into a corner by the Caicedo bid (which had they done their homework they would have known is a no go) and by leaving it this late in the window. This leaves three options: One, bite the bullet and pay what it takes for Doucoure, who is Premiership ready and who will probably improve us from day one. Two, stick with Endo until next winter or summer, allowing them time to find value. Three, bring in a "project" midfielder who can play as a 6 and as an 8, someone like Gravenberch or Manu Kone, to supplement Endo, but who will most likely not be first team ready from the off. FWIW, I think they are going for option three, with Klopp waiting on Gravenberch, Kone being the back up option.
  24. That is ridiculous if true. Players towards the end of their careers getting a final massive pay day is one thing, a young promising player just starting his career is quite the other.
  25. The first, Caicedo, was always nailed on to go to Chelsea. The second, Lavia, we dicked around with, upping our offer to Southhampton in small increments until Chelsea came in with a higher offer and better wages. The third, Kamara, does not have a very good injury record. Some list, that.
