Finally some sense from Cally. No one in their right mind would pay 2.5m for Kirkland, especially considering his injury record.
  2. I've been fantasising after Aimar since the day Rafa joined (not in a gay way though ), but I given our other priorities this summer I don't know how much sense him and Garcia in the squad would make. Aimar is a better player IMO, but Garcia is already settled, and is probably the more prolific scorer of the two.
  3. How do you know we wont sign Aimar? Look, I don't know whether all this is true or not, just that his info is usually pretty solid. Neither can I.
  4. Mori is already gone, so no point in mentioning it. Johnny H. There is a poster here with the same name, I assume its the same guy, not sure though.
  5. I don't tend to quote from other sites, but this from a very reliable poster. I'd say that his track record is probably almost as good as Elisha's: "Your ins and outs are: In: Pennant, Aimar, Defoe, Paletta, Aurelio, Alves, Gonzalez. Out: Traore, Warnock, Hamann, Cisse, Dudek." This is before Cisse's injury.
  6. Surprised you are still here, Fig, and not on your annual 3 months summer break Any other news for us, mate?
  7. You reckon Simao is still in the frame? I thought that link was long dead ... No doubt that he is class, and that his free kick abilities will give us something we greatly lack at the moment, but he will not be cheap, and there are question marks over whether he can adapt to the physical nature of the Premiership. Alves, on the other hand, is a much more physical player, and in theory should handle himself better here.
  8. Tell them Traore is up for a move.
  9. Totally agreed, especially with the idiot part.
  10. Agreed. Its not like he is Elisha ...
  11. I think he will be used predominantly as a right winger, filling in at right back only if the need arises. It would seem that he is Rafa's top target for the right wing, lets just hope Sevilla don't do a Simao on us and keep increasing his price.
  12. Dunk on Koptalk has said pretty much the same thing. If its true, then its doubtful we will sign Alves and Pennant, because this implies that Rafa prefers Alves and will sign Pennant if Alves doesn't come. If he wanted both, then the Pennant deal would have been completed what with everything agreed.
  13. Spot on. If Rafa sees that a transfer has not worked out, he is not afraid to cut his losses and admit as much (as was the case with Josemi). On a personal note, I've always liked Morientes, and its a shame it hasn't worked out. He's still a class player, just unable to adjust to the Premiership at this stage of his career. I wish him well.
  14. And we already have one of those, also an Aussie.
  15. Opps, yes it was Eskimo that mentioned him, not Figaro. Credit where credit is due ...
  16. Central defender. Didn't Figaro mention him a while back?

Why? Its not as if Sevilla are in direct competition with Barca, are they? They know they are not likely to challange for the title.

    Defoe

Well said. Speedy seems class, but the Premiership takes getting used to, and some players never settle properly (just ask Cheyrou, and, more recently, Morientes). Getting rid of Kewell is too risky, and may backfire widely. If we want to challange on all fronts next year, we need both. With a thin squad we will be no match for Chelsea and ManU - and probably Arsenal too - over the course of a whole season.

True. And a goal in the CL Final doesn't change that. Still, before the match against Borough he said how interested he is in playing in the premiership, so you never know. According to Figaro, Rafa has been after him since taking over for us, so he may be persuaded by his courtship.
  20. Starts now? It has started the minute the transfer market closed at the end of January ...
