  1. Think he's been unlucky in recent weeks, in terms of goals, he could have bagged 3-4 had it not been for some great saves....
  2. Did we not put a bid in for Simao in the summer? Did we not put in a bid for Milito in the summer summer? Did we not put in a bid for Figo in the summer? I can probably add 3-4 other names to that list but for well documented reasons the deals did not happen....So yes we did have money available.... Agger is signed sealed and delivered so what's your point? Signing players isn't as simple as picking up the phone and making an offer. Both parties will thrash out a deal that they feel best suites them, this can often take 3-4 meetings over a period of weeks. Even after a fee has been agreed there's payments schedules to work out, personal terms with the player to sort out, medicals etc etc... What do you mean when you say extra cash? If you mean we haven't got enough to sign a decent RM then I'd say your wrong based on the fact that in the last couple of weeks we have made an offer of ?12m for Alves one of Rafa's main targets (by your standars a decent player is £7m up wards). If Sevilla are not willing to sell at that price and Rafa is not willing to pay over the odds what can you do, the same applies to Simao. Whether or not Rafa has other RM targets remains to be seen, but if we don't sign a RM within that price range (8-10m) its not through lack of money.
  3. Levy also made most of his money from currency trading, he was Lewis' righthand man for years and from what I recall he bought out Lewis' stake in ENIC. Saying that he's no Abramovich and I don't see him ploughing his own money into the club. I think they have 4-5 main shareholders all companies no idea who owns them though but that could be the source.....
  4. Are you thinking of Joe Lewis, the currency trader, if so he sold out to Levy/ENIC sometime ago although saying that I think his son still retains an interest...
  5. Given that we offered Sevilla ?12m for Alves, whilst negotiating for Agger its obvious that Rafa still has some money in the kitty, at least £10m....I guess if the right player at the right price becomes available then yes I expect to see at least one more signing.
  6. If only... Several bank accounts belonging to Russian businessmen were frozen in a Luxembourg bank, local paper Tageblatt wrote on Friday. The move was part of a campaign against money laundering connected with Banque Sella Luxembourg that is reportedly a branch of Israeli bank Hapoalim. The sums frozen on the demand of Israeli authorities make up hundreds of millions dollars, the paper wrote. Luxembourg prosecutors are ready to send the documents seized in the headquarters of Banque Sella Luxembourg to Israel. Among the Russian businessmen involved in the case, the paper only mentioned Arkady Gaidamak, who currently lives in France. He was earlier mentioned in connection with a case of Russian weapons being supplied illegally to Angola through France. The French justice sysytem acquitted him of the related charges, but he is still being prosecuted in connection with tax evasion. Israel?s Justice Ministry, quoted by Russian Information Agency Novosti, said it has no information on the freezing of Russian accounts.

He wouldn't have cost us £10m thought...
  10. Aye, you could be right my source "the missus" works in the drinks industry and thought it was the Prem now she's not so sure...
  11. That's what I was thinking but I don't know when the rights for the Prem are up for grabs or when our current deal with Carlsberg runs out...Saying that they may not get it as the FA may not want a drinks company as a sponsor.
  12. I hear Carlsberg are thinking about sponsoring the Prem, not sure when its up for tender so I don't know if it will affect us...

    Rafa speaks

La Voz de la Galicia strange that they should be interviewing as they are a regional paper, based in La Coruña..... In the full article Rafa also states that in relation to CB's "he had some ideas in the summer and that he is looking down that line again", meaning the summer targets are still targets....also that we are considering 4-5 options, again in relation to the CB position.. So its one from Coloccini/César, does this mean the Agger deal has hit a snag or is he simply covering all the bases or are we signing 2 CB. Questions, questions, questions... Or he is talking to Celta Vigo, which is just down the raod, about David Silva a cracking little winger
