I said it a few weeks back, time to say it again - I think this lad will be star. I would like to put in a 'standing order' comment in advance for all the Lucas vs. Xabi/Masch/Gerrard threads: "I can't see the point in debating the merits of each against the other - I think we're really lucky to have all four".

The English Media + Jose 'Media Whore' Mourinho = A Winning Combination Jose Mourinho might only get to play friendlies for a bit, but at least his name will always be in print. That plus gazillions of pounds should swing the deal! Whoever the next manager is, he needs to have actually won a major trophy. Preferably more than one, and preferably in more than one country. That rules out all the English contenders - with the possible exception of Venables.

The England team got what they deserved - absolutely nothing. I disagree that Crouch had a good game - he got on the end of a lot of long balls, but the ball appeared to be coming off him at random angles. I said during the game that's it was one of those games where the ball just seemed to bounce off him all night. Having said that he was still one of Englands better players (!) and he took his goal well. I think Joe Cole was about the only player on show in white who actually had technique comparable to any the Croatians on the night. Gerrard - as always when Lampard plays - had a bit of stinker. I have noted in the past that Lampard doesn't actually pass the ball to Gerrard. Once you start looking out for it, it becomes very noticable. Lampard should get used to his a*** becoming bench shaped. On the up side, England will now hopefully get the media whore manager we so thoroughly deserve - Mourinho. It will be a marriage made in heaven, and will hopefully see John Terry dropped forever
