I would imagine Gerrard would play where you have maxi in a 4-3-3.

I think that would certainly be a sticking point with Van Bommel. Good sense would only offr him a 6 month contract - possibly a bit more. I'd say his agent will be trying to milk a 2-3 year deal from some headcase.

I reied to be careful and say 'A' Van Bommel (as in his type) as I dont think we are seriously going after him. Hypothetically though, Raul and Lucas are mobile enough so MVB would do OK. If anything, it might do us a favour sometimes to have someone to slow the game down rather than resorting to panic hoofing. Think it's all cricket though

If we play with a front 3 of Suarez, Torres, Gerrard then a Van Bommel could be exactly what we need. Don't let his age fool you as he was never quick and don't let his attitude fool you as it probably means you are just too young to remember the Sounesses, Whelans and McMahons that we deployed during our golden years. But why would a good source at the club be telling him what Tony B said? Or am I reading that wrong?

Konchesky got to the Europa League final while none of our defenders did. We can prove anything with assumptions. And while I have full respect for Adam, I feel people are advocating him out of desperation. If we still had Alonso and Mascherano, nobody would give him a thought. Even when we had players of that standard, we still didnt win the league. therefore, we should be looking for players of that standard or better for our fine club. Adam, while having a great season (and fair f***s to him) is not in that bracket. Please don't let our current situation, which is an anomaly and not the norm, sully our expectations. Think about it, if our owners lower expectations in this manner, we'll only consolidate our current position instead of getting back where we belong. Embrace Kenny's attitude, we cannot and will not accept second best. Our owners will be guided by our expectations, don't give them an excuse to settle for less than the best. Rant over.
