When did he last play central midfield?? We have Lucas, Adam, Gerrard, Henderson, Spearing, Shelvey that can all play central and Henderson, Downing, Kuyt, Maxi, even Bellamy that can play right side.

Bellamy played most of his football at Cardiff wide left and with Downing able to play on the right we probably have the same number as options wide right as we had before today. Im sure Bellamy could also play as an attacking wide forward on the right, if Kuyt can do it Bellamy can.

Yes thats right, i guess if it works like Torres has so far then ill be ok with it. Hopefully we use the money to sign a top quality (young) attacking player in the next window or next year. Kenny obviously didn't think he was important enough to turn down that sort of bid and we do have someone like Maxi that can do a similar job off the bench. I thought Raul was a good player but given his age its a lot of money for him, hopefully we have plans for the cash.

Bid for Meireles has been accepted (not sure how much) just depends whether he can agree terms before 11pm

I did say a few days ago that Raul wanted the move and the club wouldn't stand in his way if they got the right offer. Have no idea if anything will happen in the next 25min though, but you have to think there's something in it, hopefully we can get top money for him or a couple of decent players cos there isn't much time left.

We could get around £20 million for Meireles and Ngog if that can be used to sign 1 more young top quality attacking player we'll be in a pretty good position. The information i was told that i posted here a few days ago was that Meireles wanted to go to Chelsea and we were prepared to let him go but he won't be allowed to go on the cheap and we were contemplating whether or not to ask for Sturridge as part of the deal. While i do think Raul is a top player if we have an attacking player in mind thats younger then its probably worth letting him go to make that happen.

Agree this is the ideal time to sign 1 more top quality attacking player, in this league its very often the quality of your attackers that makes the difference. We may have to sacrifice Meireles and sell Ngog to fund it but i do think overall we would be stronger for it. We're already well covered in midfield and have Gerrard to return.

We're so close at the moment, another top quality attacking player of a similar type to Suarez and we could challenge, if we could sell someone like Meireles and N'gog plus get Cole, Poulson off the books to help free up that money, id love to see us make a play for a real top quality attacking player. before the window closes. I think defensively if we sign Coates we're pretty well covered, but in this league its attacking players that really make the difference and in that regard we're still a little short.

Suarez Lucas Downing

Start him away from home when we need an outlet, play him off the bench most games at Anfield.

Great performance, could have easily scored another 3 or 4 more. Once again though we play some of our best stuff without Carroll im starting to think he shouldn't start too many games at home although away from home he will be a very good outlet. If we could get another quick technical forward to play with Suarez we'd be a hell of a team although Kuyt once again was good he lacks that technical cutting edge. Suarez is so good its silly, as someone else said i just can't imagine him having a bad game at the moment. Henderson's best game by far and hopefully that gives him the confidence boost he needs, Adam was good too and once again got better as the game went on. Even though its been a fantastic transfer window id love it if the owners could find the money for 1 more top quality attacking player because at the moment we're really close.

Think if you get the balance right you can get your right back bombing on and Suarez likes to work the channels too, so you have Gerrard tucked in on the right side with good width on the left from Downing and Enrique.

I think its horses for courses, a team like Arsenal struggles with the physicality of someone like Carroll, but to be be honest most PL defenders would probably mark someone like that than a forward with lots of clever movement. When Carroll doesn't play we do seem to play some really good stuff with lots of movement someone like Zach Knight will struggle with that more than someone like Carroll. Lots of emphasis on Henderson though to support them as well as Downing, Henderson in particular really needs to step it up because at the moment he shouldn't be in the team ahead of someone like Maxi who finished really strongly last season.

Meireles is only out for a couple of weeks, won't stop any move.

Been hearing that Bellamy won't happen because he wants too much money to leave City, also heard that Meireles has asked for a move to Chelsea and the club will let him go, just have to decide whether we want Sturridge as part of any deal or straight cash.

I hope we can sign another top quality attacking player, i think we need someone who can help take some of the pressure off Carroll. Man Utd have shown having good attacking options can very often paper over the cracks elsewhere in your team, they've had a pretty weak central midfield for a while but can get away with it because they have 2 great CBs and 4 or 5 top quality attacking players. You only have to look at the impact Suarez has made here and to a lesser extent Downing, if we could sign another attacking player near that quality it could take us close.
