  1. Cheeky 2 million bid in the january window
  2. I understand your point. I may not have seen enough of Nemeth but to me he looks like he needs to play off a target man. Rooney and Tevez are both more than decent with their backs to goal bringing others into play and in Ronaldo they have a winger with the presence of a center forward (infact at times he played did play as the furthest forward) and a constant outlet. There were times last season when Tevez abd Rooney were very ineffective but then that tosser popped up with a goal. Imho any of the top 4 wouldve won the league last season if Ronaldo had been in their side.
  3. Nemeth , from what I've seen of him, is not really a line leader. For me, decent cover for Torres is the biggest gap in our squad but as we saw with Crouch last season it's very difficult to keep a player happy if he rarely plays.

Here is a bit more from Guillem Balague on Riera http://www.guillembalague.com/rumores_desp.php?id=66

    Torres - goals

    - At Atletico’s Calderon Stadium there are more and more Liverpool shirts with your name and number. People have not forgotten you here… Roll on Atletico in next season's group stages.

    Insua

I think it was unfortunate for Insua that Aurelio needed minutes around the time of our Carling cup matches this season.

Not sure if he meets the criteria, but Lee Cattermole is english and has been linked in recent weeks

Didn't shake hands with the Gunnersaurus either
  9. I think the 4-1 defeat to Chelsea stays with a lot of people despite it being common knowledge that Hyypia was not at all well.
  10. Going back to the original interview, is Rafa saying there will be no funds available for the summer barring what we can raise from selling players?

    Mascherano

F@ck off Charlie Nicholas you earring wearing c@nt?
  12. I wonder if we might see more of Carragher at right back next season, forming a back three at times, with a more offensive minded left back overlapping Babel who, as we know, likes to cut inside. With Mascherano in front of the defence, I think we could afford at least one more adventurous full back. I've seen Christian Poulsen do a similar job filling in when Alves gets forward for Sevilla.
  13. Not much of a struggle then but i think it's fair to say it's not his strength. Perhaps he will do it more often in the future, but I don't see it as either/or when it comes to Mascherano and Alonso. On tuesday it was Lucas who was taking the ball of the centre backs and bringing it forward a la Alonso
  14. Fine player though he is, Mascherano has nothing on Alonso in those terms. It's one thing to spread the play, it's another to get a team mate in behind the opposition. I think you'll struggle to come up with one example of Mascherano doing that.
  15. Thanks for that
  16. Anyone know where the new finnish lad Lauri Della Valle fits into this? Would he be in the same group as Ajdarevic, Eccleston, Amoo et al?

    Torres

And we'd be ten points clear in the league by now. I know it's going over old ground, but in between those two games (porto away) Torres put in, for me at least, his worst performance since he signed.

    Torres

10 goals by the end of november; who wouldn't have taken that?
  19. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...nal/7058711.stm Classy as ever
  20. I would've liked to see us try and work out a loan deal for him last january. We were a bit short on the left back then and I thought it might've been interesting to see what Rafa could've got of him.
  21. Can anyone name me the song they played out to on sky last night?

  23. I'll see your broken collarbone and raise you a broken neck http://www.thefa.com/TheFACup/TheFACup/New...ofHeroes_GK.htm Bert Trautmann Nominated by Manchester City Trautmann was Manchester City’s German-born ‘keeper who earned hero status for playing out the last 15 minutes of the 1956 Final with a broken neck. They were winning 3-1 when he rushed from his goal to dive at the feet of Birmingham’s Peter Murphy, injuring himself in the process. He stayed and didn’t concede Them were the days
  24. I remember his debut against west ham last season very well. He only played the last 10 or 15 minutes but was productive every time he got the ball, really stood out as a good prospect. Quick, direct and willing to take a man on even though his team were losing - good to see in a young player. It's going back a bit, but he was involved 3 or 4 times up the pitch in the build up to Berbatov's freekick. Only seen him the once but he definitely made a strong impression.
  25. Cheers for that
