Well I've finally renewed and I've boycotted the scheme. I'm also going to boycott the cup games because I can't stand the thought of putting a penny more than I have to into the pockets of those two liars and thieves. If it hampers our progress in those competitions, so be it because it's so much more important to see the back of them than to enjoy a hollow victory in a cup final (where no doubt they and their cronies would be in the prime seats and most of us would be ticketless despite attending all the home games). The league is a different matter because we need to support the team, not just for this season but also to maintain our Premisership status for the next. I have to say it's been done with a heavy heart and it's going to be so strange listening to home games on the radio or watching on TV

But every over-priced ticket puts money in the Yanks pockets. I think as long as people back up the boycott of the auto-ticket scheme with a boycott of matches then people (within the club and the media) may sit up and take notice. But if everyone turns up anyway and the club know it's going to happen, then I can't see it being effective. As for the players, I think what they want to see is owners who are investing in the club. If this helps force the issue then I'm sure the boycott will have their support

I don't see the point of not signing up to the scheme and then going to all of the games. The auto-cup scheme made life easy for the supporter because it saved all those hours on the phone waiting to get through to the ticket office. If the club know that everyone is going to turn up anyway then the only cost to them in not signing up to the scheme will be on extra telephone support - and they may not bother with that. There needs to be a boycott of the games as well

Having read his book I'm not sure. I think manager's need to be quick decision makers and assertive individuals and in the past that's not been apparent with Stevie. Of course we all learn from our mistakes and grow as individuals but he seems to take things to heart too much and, given the attitude that some of the press have towards Liverpool and it's managers, I wonder if he'd cope with the negativity and constant criticism. But that's just speculation on my part. I don't know him and can only go from what I've read

I've heard the same said of Murinho. He inspires players for a while but after a time it all wears a bit thin. What is going to be utterly fascinating is if, as expected, Carra moves into management and how he'll cope with the man management side of the game. Anyone who's tried it knows that it's very difficult. You can treat two people in the same way and get totally opposite reactions. Carra has always come across as very straight talking and it's one of the many things that endears him to the fans. But I wonder how many of the pampered pooches that are today's footballers will react to it? Or even Stevie? He and Carra may get on as colleagues but the interactions between them as player and boss might be more fraught and we can only speculate how Carra-the-manager would have handled Stevie's angst-ridden, yes-but-no-but-yes-but-no-but transfer saga with Chelsea :-)

I would never stop going because of poor form - they've got me for life whatever division we're playing in - and I suspect most people are the same. But the systematic rape of our club on the back of a leveraged buy out is something else to protest about. I can't give up my season ticket because I'd never live long enough to get it back. But I'm giving serious thought as to whether I should sign up to the auto cup ticket scheme - and that's a first for me
-
Really? I've not heard a thing and the new prices are not yet up on the official site. Out of interest - how much?
-
You're making an assumption that the decision makers are reasonable people and would be concerned at upsetting their customer base if there were steep rises in ticket prices. Nothing would surprise me any more with the two greedy idiots in charge of our club. I've already asked myself what I would do if, say, they doubled the ticket price. I'm not sure of the answer yet

I think Channel 5 have rights to the competition up to and including the final. I think they've learned from previous years when they've covered the early rounds of the competition, only for the likes of Sky to step in at the end when it gets interesting

Nando has not had a proper break from football since he joined us. While I was quite happy to see him play in the European Championships, he should have been excused international duty last summer (in what was, let's face it, a largely meaningless tournament) because he'd had a season of injuries before it and because the Spanish coach knew there'd be the world cup at the end of another demanding English season. To suggest that the player gets some rest at our expense beggars belief and, unlike the last Euros, I will be hoping that Spain get an early exit from the world cup.

it's doesn't matter what you think about Rafa or the Americans. Wednesday night is about lifting those players and getting 3 points. If you don't feel you can bring yourself to do it and you have a ticket for the game then please pass the ticket on to someone who will.

Totally agree and I hold up my hands and say there are times when I could give more. But some occasions are more important than others. In 2005 I came out of the ground hoarse, deaf and quite frankly in need of a good shower. I also returned home that night safe in the knowledge that I played a part in carrying those players to Istanbul. Fleet street's finest (if you can call them fine) had the obituaries ready that night - not just for Liverpool but also for our captain's future with the club. I, for one, would like to see them eating their words again on Wednesday night - especially since one of their favourite sons in the shape of 'dear old 'Arry' is coming to town
-
It's easy to be a supporter when times are good and we've been more fortunate than most. But times are not good at the moment and while (much to Fleet Street's annoyance) our fans have largely stayed behind the manager and players, I think it's time to ramp things up a notch. Wednesday night is huge and what we need is a European-style atmosphere. We need the flags out, we need the full repertoire of songs and chants and we need to keep it up for 90+ minutes. We need to bite our tongues when the players make mistakes, we need to applaud their efforts even if they go wrong and, if the match is still level late on, we need to keep the angst to ourselves and not transmit it to the players. In summary, we need the sort of night on the terraces that we delivered in that Champions League semi-final in 2005. Riise commented that he felt he could have run all night in that atmosphere and, given the players heads have been down recently, another dose of it would go down a treat at the moment. As fans, we can influence a game. We pulled it off in 2005 when, lets face it, the Chelsea side we faced was far superior to our own. Well, we can do it again. So let's go for it
