I think the idea stinks. The road network in the north west grinds to a halt most Friday nights so anyone who is not local (i.e. within the boundaries of Merseyside) will have a hideous journey. Those who live some distance away will probably have to take time off work. It's also good to be able to rely on at least one night in the week when you can plan other activities well in advance without worrying if Sky or BT are going to shift your game and leave you with a clash. Friday night has been that night for some time and now it's going the way of every other night of the week. For the match going fan, the continued growth of live football on TV has been a disaster - matches constantly being rearranged, not a hint of a subsidy for match tickets and lots of very average footballers and their agents earning obscene wages.
