It's not wrong in the context of the article. He implies that Bale's diving is because he want's to avoid a collision at 23mph. I would suggest that given how quick that actually is, Bale rarely hits that speed. And given that his dives would also happen when he has the ball, and is dribbling, his speed would be much less than this. It's also not like he is trying to avoid full front contact. More generally, a kick to the shin/lower leg. My point about speed being irrelevant is that Ashton seems to be implying that Bale's speed magnifies the opposing player's force, it doesn't (it kind of does, but not really...). I'm not explaining this bit very well, but it doesn't turn that player into a polar bear, does it! He says it's the equivalent of "running into a polar bear weighing 600kg" it's not. Maybe the force is equivalent of a 600kg weight (polar bear) acting upon a stationary object. But running into a polar bear of such weight is clearly not the same as running into a 75kg man. Anyway, it's not really worth this amount of text, I was just commenting on the exageration of the dangers faced by Bale.
