It was a good effort from him, can't help thinking they wouldn't have allowed that much space to someone they were scared of. A real talent could have taken the game away from them with that much time and space. I would have prefered to see SG there tbh.

Rafa played the best available left midfielder, ok he is poor, but I like the fact he plays a balanced side with players comfortable with their positions.

Rafa had the "best player in the world" shackled tonight, we had the lions share of the play and went behind to what was effectively a deflection, right on half time. We lack quality in the wide areas, we haven't been able to afford to put that right. Tactically, his starting line up did well. As soon as Masherano left the field so we could attack them more, kaka had the space to open us up. And the rest is History. Roll on next season.

Whatever his price was, it was cheap compared to his price this summer. So, if we do get our man, he's going to be a good few million more than the price that scared us off. We'll end up selling the likes of Palleta and Pennant anyway, they were expensive and Alves was cheap. We should have pushed the boat out for him.
