In the early70s I drove the team. When I picked them up at Anfield to go to Melwood I'd buy a few each of all the morning papers. Leave them on the dashboard for the players to read. When getting off they use to throw a few bob down for me. Ian St John never Anyway a couple of seasons back in the Main stand I was seated next to him & his accountant who mostly went with him. Having a chat I mentioned to his accountant about the papers and said he was a tight git..... He said back to me "He still is" Great player for us though, his goals more than made up. RIP
