I wonder if we have done a deal with Arsenal. What they are doing now reinforces our position IMO. I can Xabi to the a*** and Barry to us on the last day. Not sure how I feel about that.

Possibly but it is still early and if, god forbid, Torres gets injured I think we will be very thankful for the option of Keane. Edit: Probably should of read the rest of posts. Until we see our "Team" it is too early to say how things might work out.

It was very effective, even with Kewell at 70%. Did anyone else think to themselves during the game on Wednesday that we could of done with Sissoko, I certainly did.

I have not been convinced I was wrong, I just think Xabi (and then Rafa) expected much more interest. When it didnt arrive he may have decided I am better off staying here. I do however concede that there is much evidence to suggest my position was wrong. I have always wanted Xabi to stay though, he is class.

That's sums up how I feel actually. It is strange that more offers for Xabi have not materialised. Still at the end of the day if we keep Xabi I won't be too fussed especially if he plays like he has something to prove. He is a class act on form.

I agree although I have been known to be gullible also . We have left Barry in a bad spot but the way MON went about it would have Rafa thinking "I'll show you, you smart a*** little prick". We as a club should not be treated like that IMO and we need to show we won't. Even if we have to pay 16-18M, make the small time prick wait for his money because he seems to need it (their squad is s****).

I believe the 5 year deal Alonso got was for 80K/week. Not sure what we are offering Barry although I would expect 60-70K/week.

There would be f*** all irony if we won both as in the league and UCL, IMO. If we have to "keep" Xabi we can seriously play for all comps.

I think you will see a lot of that. By extension and adding in the 7 man bench we will also see a lot more of the "young ones" LOL. It's no surprise the first 2 signings we made (and made early) were our "wingers", Degen and Dossena. Rafa is going for the title, that much is clear. -
TBH there is more chance of that than Torres struggling IMO. So by extension if Torres comes back in form he could score even more due to the defenders being mind f***ed by intimidation. Quick edit: he will be better without doubt with the movement in front of him.
