  1. Yes he could, but he would have a billion year contract and no Journalist worth his salt would try and suggest Rafa is fed up and leaving, would they. Until Rafa get's a new contract I expect the press to play this one out, IMO.
  2. In 05/06 we had kewell from mid october onwards. Harry was no more than 60-70% IMO but he played for the rest of the season, at least most of it, providing nothing much more than width and retention. Gerrard played right with a license to roam and we went on a record run. Harry played f*** all after that, now we have Riera adding that balance. IMO we will improve a lot yet.
  3. So you think we haven't made any progress in the league?
  4. Exactly. That is what scares me most, G&H forcing Rafa out or sacking him and selling Pepe/Torres/Alonso etc to the highest bidder to raise cash. Unlikely I know, but still scares me.
  5. Exactly. IMO this should not be risked.
  6. Rather than repeating I would like to give cred to the above posters who have said what I think. I believe we are on the cusp of something great, something that can grow and grow if given the right support. Losing Rafa now is much more likely to send us backwards than forwards that is a given unless the new manager happens to coincide with a new sugar daddy owner.
  7. Gerrard is a hell of a lot closer to that "mantle" than Torres. Be quite happy for Torres to challenge for it though. Will mean some good games are ahead!
  8. and Rafa Spot on. Murdoch can do one. Glad to hear I'm not the only one Interesting debate considering he still has a hell of a lot to offer.

    Agger?

Me too. I think this could be one of Rafa's most difficult situations too handle. I would like to see Agger replace Skrtel and prove he still has it because he is better IMO. Skrtel has been outstanding though so it's a tough choice but I think Skrtel with Sami in the Carling Cup could pay dividends also. I think Rafa will make this move sooner rather than later as he IMO knows he can't afford to lose Agger.
  10. When someone like Murdoch has so much control surely it's obvious. We are fed s*** daily. Truth comes about 15th on the priority table in today's media. EDIT: For example, explain the price of oil. Nothing I have read has even gone close to explaining why the price has mroe than doubled in 5 years, risen by 70% in the last 18 months. Why?
  11. I think Rafa wanted another quality striker with a bit of versatality. If Torres gets injured long term we need a quality striker to replace him. We didn't have that, we do now. Whether he is up for it, time will tell.
  12. Very good post, inparticular the first line as that sums it up in a few short words. Nothing wrong with the second paragraph either.
  13. This thread has intrigued me. How can a "Heskey to return" thread go 14 pages. I haven't read it but I knew the answer before opening it. SNORKY
  14. Berbatov could be Drogba but IMO is more likely to be an Anelka. Good but not great.
  15. By far the best example of that albeit in a different sport, Tiger Woods.
  16. Correct. Gerard's Liverpool was based on counter attack. If we conceded the opponent just shut up shop, parked the bus knowing we would be clueless. That is exactly why Rafa is a superior manager (by a mile!), he always has options and most importantly when he changes tactics, the players are prepared and know what to do. I loved GH and thank him for what he did for us and it should not be forgotten, however Rafa is at a different level.
  17. Fixed it.

    Agger?

Your onto something here. Won't be long before the media pick this up and use it as a stick to beat him with.
  19. Agree. It's also because he knows exactly want they want and doesn't give it to them. He is a master of USING the press to his advantage but gives nothing in return. Examples is how he used the media to get fans on his side when he was about to be stabbed in the back and the way he thrashed Jose in their altercations.
  20. I'm watching MUTV atm. Got a full replay on, we just equalised This is fun albeit a bit perverse

    Agger?

No one will win this argument. We have 4 fantastic options at CB and we do not have enough evidence this season to judge them on form properly. Agger needs some games as he's been out a long while but he is a class player, Skrytel has done everything you could ask of him (brilliant signing). Sami = Sami, Carra = Carra. Blessed we are, blessed
  22. Amazing as it was 2 years now No doubt. He has been our best performer this season so far by some distance.
  23. 1. Kuyt 2. Alonso 3. Riera Apologies to every other player. One of the best team performances I've seen from us, even sweeter after conceding early.
  24. True. GW doesn't need to waste his time doing this. However it seems he gets a certain thrill from it so I don't care if he keeps doing it until he goes blue in the face. Cos i use newsnow also
  25. If Rafa does not get an extension of his contract soon, I would think the end is nigh. Rafa said in the press 3-4 months ago he had been assured it would be sorted after the transfer window shuts. Won't happen though, IMO.
